do u guys even know what a ricer is? Ricers are people who sit and put aftermarket seat, steering wheel, bodykits, big muffler, dumb a** rims, aftermarket tail and headlights, Lots of stickers for know reason,Stock motors with no performance with a completed decked or ''souped up'' as u guys call it. And havin a spoiler doesn't mean your a ricer, as long as you have the power to back it up.
and let me guess, you guys think carbon fiber hood, spoilers and lip kits and so on....are ridiculous? I would work on the engine and body at the same time, so i wouldn't more performance than looks and vice versa. And I'm a mechanic, so this is all knowledgable to me.

But anyways, no negativity meant here. Also want to know what you guys think of my brother's 93 civic build, with B18 swap and manual conversion. Still in progress. And I would rather spend $25 grand into a Civic or R34 Skyline than buy some crap 2013 exotic! Sick of people bagging on ricers, especially when half of you aren't racers, or drive or even know what your talking about.

I'm sure a small majority of members here actually know what a ricer is (there is after all a small following of car enthusiasts on Crunchyroll).

The general consensus is that ricers tend to modify their cars with "tasteless" and usually non-functional things. Ugly chrome auto-parts, silly fart cannon and no engine mods, etc....

Personally, a spoiler makes sense if one actually does drive on racetracks, autocross events, mountain pass runs, etc. I mean, one can still have a spoiler for the "looks" but it's not quite necessary anymore.

As for exotics, I used to have the same viewpoint and never considering them. But honestly, most of them have quite decent equipment (performance-wise) that make them more suitable for harsh driving conditions.

However, I too would much rather build up my own car and know all the strengths and weaknesses of my vehicle, and address any issues I know would become an issues (for example, oil cooler for my engine for racing-type driving).

And props to your brother for swapping in a B18 into a small Civic and the manual conversion. Sounds like a recipe for fun. Your brother put in an LSD or is that thing going to be doing one-tire-fires?

I wasn't trying to be rude or saying no one knows what it means, i'm just blunt. But not trying to be a Dbag or anything like that.
The reason it might have sounded harsh was because my bro was pissed off about how honda's were in the list of ricer cars, so we decided to say something. He started it and I finished it. But no offense meant!!
about his car........he doesn't have an LSD tranny.

^^ Any make and model can be a ricer. It is just more known that hondas and toyotas are seen as ricers by the public.

So no need to be offended just because if you or your bro has a honda, as long he doesn't fit the ricer by definition.

Haha yea, just my brother was steaming when he saw the title of this topic. Trust me, it was hilarious. He's just an angry butterball

I don't fit the defintion of a ricer, but sometimes i think my bro might. He wants to add all body upgrades, before more engine rebuilding. Confusing for me. Then he keeps cutting holes in his rear bumper and then uses bond-o to fix it. And does it again later. Crazy!! Says he experimenting......but it looks like s***

He's not the only one. I've seen various of cars do the same thing. bumpers, quarter panels are different colors and what not. For some people its a long work in progress, while others may get their cars ready in matter of weeks.

Here's my take on what makes a ricer or not. When someone makes a cosmetic mod that detracts from a cars appearance you are a ricer. You know, something that just conflicts with the cars lines/looks. My Saturn has a spoiler from the factory, as does my buddies 87 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe. Neither spoiler does anything for the cars performance, but they do look better with the spoiler than without. Now if we were to remove the spoilers and bolt on some 18" tall road race/F1 style spoilers from ebay, they would look ridiculous. In my eyes we would be ricers. You can have a cosmetic mod that does nothing for performance, yet looks good. The issue arises when it's done wrong, such as laughable body kits, the previously mentioned retarded wings, or those non-functional stick-on hood vents/scoops I see all over the place......
