Race-Inspired-Cosmetic-Enhancement

Thats all it is.

RamboCambo-..Yea..220 sounds about right...Though 320 is possible it would not be streetable needing 14:1-16:1 CR and nothing but race gas.

I just saw some pretty awesome ricers in the past few hours, I managed to make out a white Prelude which a pretty sick ass body kit and rims. I also found a lime green Matrix worth looking at. Both had CF hood, reasonably sized mufflers and rear spoilers. Body kits that actually look good. Despite that my dad was driving a Yaris, we passed them along the highway!

Yaris - One roaring mother****er if you ever driven one and tried to hit a high speed. Can't hear others since the engine is right in front of you behind a thin wall of aluminum! Awesome car though.

EDIT: , btw, I had to shift from 3rd on the automatic(dad drives an auto) and have the engine rev to about 6,5k before it started accelerating to about 80kph, then flipped back to D and floored it!(Actually it was already floored at 3rd) Felt like it took forever to hit 120kph xD Oh, it's a fun little car as a commute, but very dangerous if you intend to go past 60kph, since as a driver, you want to listen to others, and with the tiny engine it has, it's so loud, that I couldn't hear the guy next to me honking since I was a little careless and went in a little bit into his lane. (I only heard his honking after I eased up on the gas)

Because they're idiots. =D
When buying a bodykit, many people will get what has the craziest design. You know, loads of holes and aerodips. They won't care if it makes their car look like roadkill.

When buying a wing, many people will get the largest carbon fiber wing out there. Like, 18 inches above the trunk with 3 or 4 wings in it. The extras add so little power that it is not worth the extra. Someone once told me that the ideal wing is 12 inches high, 4 inches wider than the car, and with those side panel things. Someone correct me.

Wing functionality depends upon the drag coefficient of the car itself so it varys from car to car and the type of environment it will be running in.

Yeah, pretty much they're good when on high speeds, such as an highway... or a very long straight on a track..., keeps it nice and stable( I think...) Oh, lasthope05, are most rear spoilers adjustable now a days? Since the coefficient also depends on the angle of the wing it's set at...(I think.. I haven't done any spoiler work.. yet)

The fiberglass ones are not, but most aluminum ones should be adjustable.

If you're referring to the color, I believe that, but the S2000 is quite common around here.

And if you're talking about the Honda S2000 CR with the track-oriented body kit, those are F***ING RARE!

For those who don't know, the Honda S2000 is probably one of the best sports cars out there....

i'll believe you on the s2k cr with the track bein a really rare car. and just the s2k in general is a pretty common car down here in socal too. couple of teams with lyke 5 at least to 20 max just all of s2ks. they have a couple other cars too, but mostly comprised of s2k.
and yeah. i was referring to the color of the car being hard to find.

well that is one of the usual purposes of a bodykit is to look different from your everyday model.
other functions involve redirection of air to the optimum areas of induction such as a large mouth for an FMIC.

there are also other bodykits that are wind-tunnel tested for actual downforce rate increases, such as DAMD, Original Runduce (Voltex), Dixis, etc.

as far as wings go, the purpose is to add downforce to the rear of the vehicle without increasing excess weight to allow better overall control of the vehicle. they're rarely necessary for front-drive cars, but are useful in 4wd and rear drive models.

the original designs were based off of formula-1 series cars where the spoiler also serves as a directional balance. no rear spoiler = harder to control the vehicle at higher speeds.

but as we all know, companies like kragen/autozone/pepboys' APC and XRracing brands are all-show no-go. they're made to LOOK like the real deal, but won't do anything. most are fiberglass non-adjustable models strictly for looks, and aluminum ones although adjustable, aren't designed or tested for actual downforce.

as far as ideal wing sizes, there's no such thing. They need to be tested extensively in that manner.

best way to know for certain is to go with companies with proven track records. also, if you look up "Super GT" and "JGTC", a lot of those cars have insane spoilers but in terms of street-class racing, they have more street-practical models that offer similar performance numbers.

...but keep in mind the more effective spoilers cost in excess of $800.
