Not gonna lie - achieving that level of immersion is my nirvana. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does... oh man, I love it.

One time when I was in high school I was so engrossed in reading I didn't notice we were chaning seats. I just remember looking up from my book and everyone was already standing with their backpacks and books and everything looking at me. My teacher just gave me this sympathetic 'I feel bad for the awkward girl in class' look.

It wasn't as embarrassing as it sounds, I actually thought it was kind of funny when it happened.

My embarrassing school reading moment was when I was asked to stand up and read a passage from the book we were studying. Well I got up and started to read aloud in class and realised that the story was too good. I had to know what happened next asap. Reading aloud slows me down so I shut up and continued to read silently, turning the pages as I went along. Then the teacher said, "Tkayt, you're supposed to be reading for the class!"

I try to time anime episodes to match the oven, by breaking the cooking down into episode lengths.
9" pizza = 1 full episode, 12" pizza = 1.5 episodes, Mini pizza = opening credits, etc.

But if I'm reading (manga/novel/VN) or playing a story heavy video game, I'll usually forget to eat or drink all together.

Not that lost. I can become immersed but I also maintain an alertness to my surroundings.

Sort of like how people nowadays text so much and don't look up, which causes problems. I don't like it when people are unaware, so I don't indulge in such behaviors myself.

This forum makes me happy. So glad that people are actually still reading books and can still appreciate them.

I only read a book when I have nothing to do. I can't concentrate knowing that I have a chicken in the oven or something

Err...I don't cook, btw hahaha but still, I like to read books when I have free time so nobody bothers me.
