Lost items.. the owner will come back for it, someone will turn it in, or someone will help themselves to the spoils. I generally can't bring myself to care which happens.

Turning in someone's dog seems like a good way to get myself shot, considering the sort of people whose dogs tend to be roaming around town unattended.

Children are irritating to deal with, and as an adult male it feels like there's a good chance someone'd call the cops on me if I went within 30 yards of an upset kid no matter what my intent was. If nobody else dealt with the kid I'd call the police myself and let them handle it.

Really? Most people don't seem to understand why I hate dogs. Well I say hate them... more like absolutely terrified of them. They hate me too o.o

Yeah, we dislike dogs in different ways. "Hate" is probably too strong a word for what I feel. I just don't particularly like them, and would definitely not just pick one up and take it home with me! (Also, allergies.)

Being the cops actually charge people when they return lost wallets, I'd pick up the wallet or cell phone, take any cash I find and then turn it in.

Dogs and cats . . . If you lost your pet you probably don't deserve to have one in the first place.... There are exceptions, just not many.

Money, I would keep.

Phone or wallet, I would try to find the owner.

Animals, they are on their own.

Let's see....

$race = 'norse';

if($race == 'norse'){
$this->Loot('everything not nailed down');
}else{
throw new \Exception('Don't give a fuck about other races');
}

Metal mainly, however I would pick up the money. But I also wander around alley ways looking for free stuff. I have found some lovely things, including a park bench with a free sign on it, multiple barbecues, fancy punch bowls, fancy cabinets, fancy chairs. I often see sports equipment, and even though I should take it and sell it, I usually am lazy and don't, its regrettable as I could have made a good amount of that stuff.
Other stuff that I know is not free, I try calling the owner.
I regards to pets, definitely call, even stay with it for a while.

@GrateSaiyaman, you do know if a dog runs away more often than not, its a dumb reason or bad fences, not bad ownership, often times dogs escape to eat their neighbor garbage, or just visit another dog. Hell, I have had people visit my house threw my back gate, and accidentally let my dogs out on multiple occasions(there is even I sign, but they just ignore it). Though I hope you at least call a place for the dog to go, rather than risk it get run over, getting fully lost(as often times dogs return home after they get bored) or eaten by coyotes.

I will pick up stuff that is valuable or forgotten, and give it to some responsible party that theoretically will hold it for someone to come looking.

Golden rule.
