Does anyone here buy the box sets of some of their favorite anime? I'm thinking about doing just that, are there any preferred websites for this? Amazon of course but any others?

I use to when boxsets were really cool. Now I just look for used box sets at thrift stores and multimedia stores and pre-owned copies from sites such as amazon and eBay.

I remember when we had to buy four episodes at a time, for $30 a pop, and then wait another month for the next $30 installment. Boxsets are still cool.

Yup. Most of my anime DVD's are in such a format, but unless it was something that I just had to have like FMA, then I waited and got it either on sale or ordered it at a discounted price from RightStuf. To be honest, I actually preferred that four or five episodes a disc format because they would always have fun little extras like outtakes, behind-the-scenes features, interviews, all sorts of cool bonus stuff, plus all of the boxart makes for a very colorful bookcase, and many times the paper inserts doubled as little mini posters. These days you're lucky if they come with textless openings and endings as a bonus feature.

Of course you did.

Holdini, I was going to suggest Rightstuf also, but I don't buy anime much so Amazon and Rightstuf are pretty much all I know about (Crunchy sells some too, but often are more expensive).

BTW, I've moved this thread over to our Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

^Germany is still using this BS.

Anyway; more topic-related. If there's fancy stuff included I usually buy them for favorites and keep them unopenend.

Besides the ones mentioned I use ...

http://www.deepdiscount.com/
http://www.rakuten.com/
http://www.oldies.com/

I shop around for best price before buying. Oldies.com is an amazing site, you can sometimes get full sets on closeout dirt cheap (new not used).

Yes, I do buy box sets but most when I've seen them in 2nd hand shops but they tend to be part one type sets. I bought part one of bodacious space pirates the other day for £3 but found the full set for about £20 on Amazon
