It definitely appears to be an ad or maybe all of the ads on a particular ad server… I've been able to watch on my laptop, but get booted out either right away or soon on the Roku. It would be nice if someone from CR would chime in here to at least say they've seen the issue and let us know what they intend to do - even if it is nothing at least Roku users would know what to expect….

i get the feeling from all the information given in the replies listed; that crunchy roll and Roku are not talking to each other. i am suspicious of the fact that only those that sign up for the premium package, if only for a trial, are getting the Roku program to work properly. is this a forced marketing project to get you to sign up for premium service?

I also notice it is happening on the Manga app too.

this stinks. I don't mind commercials as long as they aren't on every five minutes, like the apps sponsored by 'Ad Rise', they are repetitive ad nausium.

The principal reason for my Roku is to watch anime on crunchyroll on my 42' tv.. Hul;u any one?

I first experienced this problem today - it has been about a week since I last viewed Crunchyroll on my Roku 2, and I had no problems then, but today Asterisk War dumped me back to the Roku menu as soon as I selected an episode to watch, and the Angel Heart drama only played for a few seconds before dumping me out.

Very frustrating indeed.

A while back I encountered the problem where sometimes an advertisement just wouldn't start, leaving it stuck on a black screen. That problem eventually disappeared, and so maybe this one will too.

Ya I've been having the same problem for a week or so now on my Roku TV. I got a response from crunchyfoll when I emailed their support, but they gave me back a generic response for some generic fixes for changing my DNS set up or fixing some settings for my web browser. They need to work on their break/fix issues because not only did they give no care in to that email, but it seems they aren't paying attention to this matter on here either.

I am a premium member and all of the sudden mid episode the episode froze and the sound continued.
I reset everything . Wifi , Roku and even reactived my device with crunchyroll. The tv app is diff than the one I had before. I even deleted and then added it back .
I can log in , read all about a show then as soon as I click on an episode to play it starts to load then stops and tells me there was an error . It's on all shows to not just specific ones. It's been down for a day now.

All other apps that stream are functioning perfectly with zero issues. It's just crunchyroll.

Premium or free doesn't make a difference. I'm a premium member and every time I try to play a video it says there is a playback error and to check my internet. I hard rebooted my roku, soft rebooted my roku, and re-added the channel all in about 10 different combinations. Still no fix.
I even made a new account to use the trial offered on the homepage of the app, and was still getting the same error when I tried to play a video.
I'm seriously considering canceling my premium membership because of this.
I've been continuing paying for something I can't even use, unless I'm on my computer, where I can watch anything I want from many other places for free anyways.

Did you revoke authorization via /acct/?action=devices before reinstalling the channel?

Yes I did but that didn't help the issue, but I finally fixed it for me, after two weeks of it driving me insane..
For anyone else who can't play any video and gets the "playback error" just go here https://www.crunchyroll.com/acct?action=video and change the playback quality to 480, then make sure your tv is set to the correct resolution. That's what eliminated the error for me.

I'll keep my premium for as long as the app works on roku for sure, but CR should really start to inform us that we have to change something like that; before the update my videos were playing as "SD" quality whatever that is, then it just broke.

So, I turn on CR on my Roku two nights ago and am greeted by having to log in again. I noticed the app looked a little different, and I knew it was probably going to suck hard. Anyway, I get signed in, and stare forever at the new cigarette loading bar while it struggled to pull the app up. Finally, I go to watch Teekyu, and I get the "playback interrupted" message. I try Komori-san, same message.

I'm a paying subscriber, so it has nothing to do with the ads. Either way, I haven't been able to use my CR app for 30~ hours and have been kinda pissed.

I see that there is some sort of workaround, but I'm not quite sure it'll work for me. We'll see. Still, I'm not a happy or pleased CR subscriber. It probably doesn't matter since you have millions of users, but my user experience has been gradually declining over the last few years. This might be the proverbial straw for the camels back. :/

Thanks for the link, I cliked it, and it seems I already had it set to 480. I'll see if I need to do anything to my Roku settings in a second, but my TV's just a standard old-timey, so there aren't any settings on to to fiddle with.

I hope I don't have to delete/reinstall it. That would be quite a bit of trouble for something that shouldn't be any trouble. :(

I am experiencing the exact same problem as Viedle. It began happining + - 30 days ago. I am not able to watch anithing from Crunchyroll anymore. Tried to restart the Roku, disconected the cable, nothing. All other channels are OK, Crunchyroll does not work anymore for me.
