Men and women have different standards when it comes to direction. Women tend to be more relative whereas men tend to be more about the parameters, both have their advantages. A man will find the edges of their ecosystem, a woman tends to map the insides of it. Nature tends to not be black and white so of course it varies to personal instinct such as sternness.

Pfffft too obvious, we just never need any help :P

I'm never wrong or lost, so I never ask for directions.

I have asked for directions before and admitted that I was lost.

I have been lost in Sequoia National Park, forgot the trail map and the whole park is a lovable cellular dead zone. I came across a family who sounded like they were from Europe. The wife asked for directions. Her husband was too busy nervously smoking a cigarette in a park under a high fire warning. I admitted I was in the same boat and where I had been by trial and error.

You can stand at the fork in the woods as long as you want, but you're not going to get anywhere until you pick a path.

I personally have no problems asking for directions since I am bad at navigating areas that are situated in reality. (<.>") I'm not a man yet though, am I?

I've read that studies have found that women tend to orient themselves more relationally (every location relative to other locations) while men tend to orient themselves more with a mental bird's-eye-view kind of map, so it's kinda the opposite of the instincts you just described.

I orient myself with a GTA styled overhead map. See GTA teaches you how to navigate and plot courses

If girls weren't presently half of the gaming population, I would say 'EUREKA! The cause it found! Maybe the different brain-navigation style is due to video games!'

Alas.
I don't even know how I orient myself. I mainly backtrack by how I remember moving, mentally retracing my steps. It's not a very good way to orient oneself when memory is unreliable for rarely-visited paths.

The questions is do girls play games where you have to look at the map/mini-map all the time? I literally grew up playing GTA so it is forever stuck in my brain. I literally path in my mental map and do everything just like GTA except I can rotate the map now to look like google maps while driving.

I remember landmarks and what turn direction but not exactly where I had been.

You are a Man Aurasphinxiar. Just not as stubborn as most when it comes to asking directions.

So in conclusion, you are still lost but will not ask for directions because of your virtual "Google Map". Is that correct?
