Thinking for yourself! Don't follow crowds follow your heart and mind! Only then can you be counted as a human!

I believe the general consensus is wrong. Most if not all vertebrates have emotions. Having something every other mammal has isn't very defining if were trying to set ourselves apart here.

Idiocy is surely a better conclusion that emotions.

I present to you non-human idiocy

Humans are just animals, like all other species. What separates us? Our DNA sequence.

Dogs feel pain, cats feel emotion, dolphins commit suicide from depression, horses feel joy, cardinals feel love and sorrow when they loose a loved ones lives, cardinals also mate for life. Monkeys are intelligent and know how to use tools. There are many more examples, but looking at different species, there is nothing that separates us completely unless you are religious... in which the answer will be "the soul".

There's quite a lot that separates us from an evolutionary standpoint. Opposable thumbs, improved brains thanks to cooked meat allowed us to develop a deep self awareness, process development, tool making, tool usage (more impressive than the birds), improved spacial communication, ability to catalogue events, ability for linguistics, and numerical comprehension.

Being one of the human species. In terms of anything outside of that, such as conscience, it is nothing but a notion. Your DNA makes you human and humans come in many forms. Whether you are blind, crippled or crazy, you represent dollar signs to the correctional facilities.

Don't break the law.

Well, it's basically to do with our DNA structure. I'm sure the biologists could explain it much better.

Some is true, though other animals make tools too. Linguistics are also an "objective" matter. All animals have their own set of linguistics. We just cant understand it.

As for what I said. Humans are just animals. We are no more special than a cockroach. We live to reproduce and survive. That is all. And sadly we excel at that to wiping out many other species. Wooo...

To be able to effectively pass generations of knowledge down with history and the likes seems unique to us.

The ability to ask questions like this.

Really though, to be human means a lot of things, one is being a freaking miracle. How many billions of years have passed with single celled organisms, the set of conditions for humans to exist is an anomaly. On a less macro scope, our evolutionary capabilities are what it is to be human. Every other species, given the same conditions as humans have went through would be extinct by now. We're weak, we're fragile, and yet we continue to live on.

Being born a human automatically grants access to human rights.
