unsure if this is right forum, or belongs in polls.

but which of the 3 do you think is the best?

i like crunchyroll for its forums and easy to get around website, but i dont like the selection of anime that much.

funimation, i dont like the way the website and forums are (just confuses me) but i like the nice selection of dubs they have

hulu plus: kinda has a slow app but has an amazingly large selection of subbed anime that i dont see on here or funimation.

which is why im subscribed to all 3.

do you guys use either of those 2? and which do you think is the best? im kind of debating on cancelling one of the subscriptions to save money since i dont binge watch anime as much

I subscribe to the premium services of both Crunchyroll and Funimation. I'm keeping both due to the exclusives on each. I watch via my PS4 but I definitely agree that Crunchyroll's website / forums are much better than Funimation's. Dubs don't factor into my decision because I loathe dubs (not being a weaboo or whatever you call it --- I just dislike the way they sound).

Hulu isn't available in Canada so that's a moot point

I just mainly use Crunchyroll and like it here

By the way, doesn't Hulu get most of it's licensed anime from Funimation anyways? I think most, if not all of the anime on Hulu is through Funimation. When I went to go watch an anime on Hulu, it used the Hulu video player while playing the show.

Since it sounds like you're asking in order to help you make a decision (and wasn't created using the Poll feature), it belongs in the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum, where I've moved it.

I usually maintain subscriptions on Crunchy and Funi (the subtitle-only one). From time to time I try Hulu when they send me free trial offers but I don't tend to watch much there. This season I'm keeping the Hulu subscription even after the trial runs out because of One Punch Man (and Daisuki doesn't have a Roku or AppleTV app and their iOS app doesn't actually work when I try streaming it to AppleTV.) Once One Punch Man ends, I'll probably end the Hulu subscription unless I find something equally compelling to watch there.

Viz Media (Neon Alley), another competitor acquired the license, and they use Hulu to stream their content... Viz haven't done much else of late, but when they do, it really messes things up.

I actually have found myself in love with all 3 services simultaneously for years. Funi has one of the strongest/cutting edge back catalogs of shows from the last decade as well as more out of the box newer titles. Hulu has an amazing collection of older titles you can't find elsewhere. Crunchy has the most diverse current simulcasts as well as the most in number of any of the 3 sites as well as a decent back catalog. It's hard to choose just one.

I subscribe to all three, and probably watch about 90% of my anime on Crunchyroll.

Hulu has pretty much everything, but between the ads and the majority-SD streaming quality I only very rarely use it. I watch Funimation stuff more, but even with that I probably only watch maybe one new series a season there. And I've already made my way through the gems in their catalog a long time ago. And that's pretty telling since I still am finding a good catalog series in Crunchyroll here and there, and I've subscribed to Crunchyroll at least two years longer than I did with Funimation.

What this person said. Premium member on Crunchyroll and have the cheap membership on Funimation. I absolutely despise dubs. I've only seen one or two that were really well done and only watched them because the original subtitled version wasn't available. Ever try watching the dubbed version of Steins Gate? it's horrendous. Don't even get me started on Mayuri's voice. Japanese Mayuri = so cute. English Mayuri = so annoying. Mayushii is just too cute to ruin that way.

I started out on HULU Plus but hate everything that Hulu stands for so after I found Crunchyroll and Funimation I dropped it like a bad habit. For one I cannot stand the commercials and I refuse to pay even more money for their commercial free version that's only sort of, maybe, kind of commercial free but not really. As a long time subscriber to Hulu the price jump for their not really commercial free version was just too much of a slap in the face. Coupled with a shoddy website, horrible video playback, godawful nonstop buffering regardless of your connection speed and just general lack of anything decent to watch it was easy to let it go. I also have a huge boycott list from annoying commercials that Hulu plays over and over and refuse to ever support any of those companies lol. Okay, enough about Hulu, this isn't a Hulu rant thread. Sorry about that. Let me shorten this: I hate Hulu! The ONLY show I was watching on there was K and the second season ended so I dropped it completely.

Out of Crunchyroll and Funimation I really prefer Crunchyroll. It's just so much easier to navigate. The forums are better and it just feels like a really nice, tight-knit community compared to Funimation whose forums I hardly ever bother with. It's too much of a pain to even get to them, much less post on them. It's also a pain to have to go to a separate page to view all of the videos in a series and even then it's a pain because one show could have 74 videos because they add in all the clips and trailers. Content wise I think Crunchyroll and Funimation are about on par. Funimation might have a bit more animation but it's hard to tell. Crunchyroll is constantly expanding their library and I prefer watching simulcasts on Crunchyroll. They just seem to have more simulcasts that I actually want to see compared to Funimation. The only one I'm currently watching on Funimation right now is Dimension W.

So all in all I prefer to watch it on Crunchyroll if it's there. If not then I go to Funimation. I just hate the fact that Funimation does not work worth a crap in Internet Explorer. Yeah I know IE sucks but I have it set up the way I like it and I'm used to it. Plus my AV works very well with IE and I have more protection with it compared to Chrome. Never do anything important with IE though. Don't even attempt to edit or build a website from IE. Trust me on this, you're better off using Chrome or Firefox for anything that's important.

Funimation's app works on my Kindle Fire while Crunchyroll's doesn't. Please update the app Crunchyroll. I was highly disappointed since this was the main reason I bought a Kindle fire. :(

Hulu doesn't even make the cut. So glad I cut those people off. It's a shame that instead of innovation and change all they care about is the status quo and money. I refuse to reward them for bad behavior and I'm hopeful that one day Hulu and Cablevision will all be a distant memory. They remind me of Kodak, inventing the first digital camera but refusing to market it because they want to keep their monopoly of printed film going strong........and then end up losing it all. They could have lead the charge instead of being left behind in the dust. Hulu = modern day Kodak.
