Karas

after watching the first 3 OVAs... or the first "movie" as thrown together by Manga Entertainment, Karas seems like a very shallow action-heavy series that really makes no sense. but, after watching the last 3 OVAs.. or the second "movie", then everything makes sense, and it's much more enjoyable to re-watch than it was the first time around.

Code Geass.
There's so much characterization in the smallest things, and it's so packed with things to pay attention to... I've probably watch most of the episodes more than a hundred times and I still notice things.
The first time you watch it, you're focused on what's going to happen next. After that, you can focus on the other little things.

Neon Genesis Evangelion. The first time I didn't understand it at all. Years later I read a comment by a fan online and it not only explained most of the anime to me but convinced me to watch it over again.

@DigitalDeviant: That's one of my favorite anime. It's an easy one to watch over again. I had great fun staying up later than I should watching it the first time around.

Currently re-watching Inuyasha and I gotta say it's better than I remember so far, but that could be because the younger me didn't really understand much of what was going on.

Same! I'm up to episode 67.

While like most shows like it, there are some random filler episodes, at least it is a congruent story so far. Everything seems to happen and lead to something/somewhere else for the most part. And I don't remember all the stuff with Kikyo being so messed up and dark.

I have been a Miroku fan since the show first aired, but now I like him even more. I think a lot of people discredit Inuyasha, but I am really enjoying it all these years later. Plus I have actually never watched The Final Act to complete the story (which is why I am going back to refresh myself). I am looking forward to finally completing this thing.

Yeah never finished it either so figured might as well rewatch it from the beginning only got up to episode 10 so far though, art and animation still holds up amazingly well.

/the-irregular-at-magic-high-school was even better the second time. There are a lot of emotions and nuances you don't get until after you see a certain scene because you don't understand what it is a character is reacting to when it is happening. Especially in the case of things Tatsuya does as you learn more about what he can do - the characters are reacting to what he is doing but you don't know what he is doing so you can't react to it. Second time rocked even more.

Underrated as hell anime in my opinion!

I don't think it's underrated as much as it is unknown. great anime, just not a lot of buzz around it.

Well, I'd still say its underrated.

I mean, its got the guy who played Shaggy in the Scooby Doo movies, Cree Summer, Piper Perabo and yet, it's STILL unheard of.
How can you not be on board with that??

Yeah, Neon Genesis Evangelion threw me for a loop when I first watched it. A lot of things are implied and vaguely explained especially later on. A lot of it is pretty messed up.I actually haven't watched it over again, but I really need to

Gotta agree that Code Geass was awesome the second time I watched it. Almost better than the first viewing. So many characters develop/ change allegiances so it's cool to reset and see where everyone starts.

No Game No Life was primo the second time around. I suppose all anime is fun to watch twice though, sub then dub. Or am I the only one who does this?

Thank god someone mentioned NGE.
+1

The whole
made for some very awkward re-viewing sessions to figure out what just happened,
