The meaning of life is the meaning you give it. Its subjective we all need to find our own reason to live, or goal to achieve. I think a lot of people don't realize that your reason for life can be simple or abstract it all depends.

As much as I want to say"Oh you create your own purpose in life" I really can't. I mean sure one could lie to him/herself and say otherwise, but ultimately we as humans have no known purpose for now, all we do is to strive for knowledge/love and benefits. So yeah, your really have no purpose of being born, I mean you don't ever choose to be born, your parents do, and the same goes for them and those who had them until there's literary nothing, You could go back all the way to monkeys and get into the evolutionary loop, but again you will meet nothing.

So yeah man, You have no purpose, and so a better view point would be, if everything had a reason in the universe, then we are really nothing but a part of a bigger procedure which would be pretty boring as the most intelligent life form in earth...

Of course when you look at it from a religious stand-point(which I should do since I follow a certain religion but I just preferred to not have it influence the answer ) your reason would be to worship..

Except you do create your own purpose in life. You might not feel that there's any to yours, but plenty of others do. They live for their families, for their ideals, for their career, for their friends, for their pleasures, etc. The meaning of life is a subjective thing, as is a lack thereof. In fact, meaning and purpose as a whole are subjective. The idea that there's some objective purpose to your life, some intrinsic meaning, is just the wishful thinking of people who are too weak to formulate a purpose of their own and who want to be special little snowflakes. They have no guiding principles of their own, no desires of their own, and thus they must rely solely on others to define their life for them.

I especially despise nihilism. If life has no meaning, why do you continue to live it? Why do you continue to undergo something which offers no joy to you, has no purpose to you? Are self-preservation instincts, the will to survive, really powerful enough to overcome the repetitive, dull, pointless nature of the meaningless existence? That seems a little farfetched to me.

No, I know the exact reason why most nihilists continue going. It's because, unlike the dribble they spew from their lips about the futility of existing, they want to live. If there was truly nothing to live for, they would have taken their life long ago. They won't admit it, but their ramblings are all lies -- meaningless words they tell themselves to perpetuate their false sense of despair. They have something to live for -- if not on a conscious level, then an unconscious one. And that's why their philosophy is so disgusting to me. It's pseudointellectual, edgy garbage that is absolutely demolished and destroyed by their own way of life. No living being truly abides by nihilism, no nihilist truly lives by it. Because if they did, they'd be rotting in a grave at this very moment.

An intrinsic, universal meaning is a nonexistent thing. It isn't found in anything. You are the primary definer of purpose and worth. And there's nothing wrong with that. If anything, it only makes life more beautiful. Its diversity is a part of its splendor. A human being's individuality is what makes us unique, it's what makes us so wonderful, what separates us from mere beasts... At least that's what I think anyway.

EDIT: World domination. All are my inferiors -- because I am perfect. My status and role in society should reflect that.

Does life really need meaning? In different contexts life has different meanings. Is the meaning of life the culmination of each meaning for each context, or is there a particular context in which the meaning is most profound? Who is to say when each person ascribes more importance to different parts of life?
Channeling Pontius Pilate, "And what is 'truth'? Is truth unchanging law? We both have truths. Are mine the same as yours?"
