They have become "the generation" before them. I refuse to submit to old age and say that shit. I'm too youg to be old.

Most of us are waaaay waaaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sensitive. People practically seem to take pride in being offended by everything. College campuses sounds especially bad. Other than that, I don't mind either way (of course, just that alone is almost enough to make me hate my own generation). I mean, look at hairdos in the 80s. They can't say shit about our shitty music and whatnot. People of all generations end up getting into stupid trends in their day (probably) and it's easily ignored.

Seems like there are better things to complain about, but at this point I think complaining is just a sort of hobby for many people.

I've never cared when someone says they hate this generation. They can yell at us all they want but we are the ones who are going to run world after them and they can't do anything about that.

fun fact, when we get old, we're gonna bitch at the next generation simply for not being our generation.

FACT!

You know who sucks? The baby boomers. They are the ones who have been shipping jobs out of the USA for decades now and mAde policies that arescrewing over our generation. Our shitty economy is due to them along with lack of jobs. They are also trying to monitor and control the internet.

Saying the current generation sucks is just a rite of passage to becoming an adult. As is criticising the shows they watch, the music they listen to, and blaming real life violence on whatever the kids are into.

Exactly--Usually it takes a ten to twenty-year time-out for us to culturally look back at what was right and what was wrong with a generation, and whether it had anything to actually be memorable about.
Generally, we're too busy showing off how grownup we are and how much we've abandoned the crazes we followed in our kid and teen years, and refuse to talk about them, and it's only at the age when sentimental nostalgia kicks in that we can look back at what we did right. (As well as "What were we freakin' thinking??")

50's music, for example, didn't catch on until the Woodstock generation started listening to their "parents" music and started thinking this Chuck Berry stuff actually sounded pretty good.
60's Motown music had a revival when we all bought the Big Chill soundtrack in '83, and soon every movie for the next six years had the characters bouncing around karaoke'ing to Otis Redding....Just in time to hit the TV Rerun Renaissance of classic 50's & 60's TV shows with the rise of cable and Nick at Nite's promotion.
80's bashing was seven years ahead of its time when it was a joke in Back to the Future II, but when it became the stuff of VH-1 shows, all of a sudden we knew what "the Reagan era", "80's music" and "big hair" were all about.
Even 70's TV shows and 80's movies are now being brought back out of desperation by studios who grew up as fans when they were kids, and can't understand why our culture doesn't watch TV or go to the cineplex anymore.

When it's too early, we have no idea what our decade looks like--When the USPS tried to put out "decade stamps" for the end of the century in '99, they couldn't think of what memorialized The 90's except for: The Internet, racial diversity, the Gulf War, Seinfeld, Titanic, Jurassic Park, X-Games, CGI, SUV's and cellphones.
We're only starting to figure that one out--nowadays, say "the 90's" and we all picture whiny depressed snarkily-ironic hipsters in big glasses and bee costumes--and I'll say this now so you can remember it seven to ten years later: Laugh while you can, Millennials.

Yes, this happens a lot. I've heard some parents moan. They said their parents had complaints and even the great grandparents had their rants.

we're gonna be even more crotchety simply because we're already mean to each other on the internet.

Can you imagine being an internet flamer at like 60?

They might have a point. A lot of young people are prostituting themselves to the older generation in order to cover their debt

I think I need to stay away because their edge might slice me. I feel like hating on your own generation is a pretentious fad that just wont die.
