Really? Thats surprising.

I'm not too surprised about the Asian version itself having English, but I would say I kind of am with Tecmo Koei's decision to not bring this over.

I guess a game like this could have English text but of course a JRPG would not. If it were released in Japan only especially.
Well as i guessed and as someone else posted its about sales.
Poor sales = dont bother releasing it in the west.

I was under the impression that the reason for them not releasing it in the West was not to offend feminists from the news and tweets from Tecmo Koei itself.

In this case, it's not about sales, but public image which is ironic as we both know the type of content Koei has released in the West.

People have complained about sexism, objectification, alleged impacts on body image, and so on for every installment in that franchise so far. Every. Single. One. They are lying when they say they fear backlash. And why? Because of buycotts. They want you to hold a buycott. And you're doing it.

I was thinking this myself. Whether truly intentional or not, there's really no question that DOAX3 has received much more attention over the past few days than it ever would have had otherwise. I'm pretty sure there are people out there who are going to buy (or at least say they are going to buy) the game now who may have not even known it was coming out simply just because of a personal agenda. In reality, the sales numbers for the game were likely going to be rather low in North America anyway and those originally interested in buying the game would never have had any issue just importing it to begin with.

And I say all that while comfortably identifying myself as one of those who enjoyed DOAX1 and DOAX2 and was considering importing the game all along.

Two things to consider then, muh bruddah:

1. Ah, too, buy what I wawnt, when ah wawnt. And as a feminist (yeah, process that CR, liberal sex-positive feminists exist) I'd buy this.

2. There is a history you would not believe of politicians and marketing firms planting stories in newspapers to elicit the desired effect (you have a problem and you need our product NAO). When Chaplin put a gag about gastritis in Modern Times he wasn't doing that to make a cheap fart joke.

Just throwing this out there hoping the drama ends sooner than later

Then again, it's just the company in charge of the game so what do they know. They aren't nearly as informed as a website that imports games of your average reddit commenter.
