Let us unexpectedly drop in on Dai_Loli, who is currently watching anime on a Saturday late at night, all by himself! Do ho!

*rings doorbell*

Dai_Loli’s voice echoes from inside: “Oh, it’s open, come on in!”

I open the door and mischievously peek at his computer screen:

Dai_Loli, with his back to me, sitting on his chair, turns his head around and greets me: “Oh hey, what’s up? Was wondering who’d show up this late!”

“W-what is this anime that you are watching?”

Dai_Loli: “Oh this? It’s called Anime De Training! Ex. It’s a short anime about aspiring idols doing exercises! It’s pretty educational, I’ve learned a lot of new stretching routines!”

I let out a quick, nervous laugh: “Did I… interrupt something? I mean, I can come back later…”

Dai_Loli: “Haha, no no, it’s fine. I just finished my ‘routine’ anyway, wanna play some Rocket League?”

As he says this, Dai_Loli swivels his computer chair around to face me. Time appears to slow down, a shiver runs down my spine. Horrified at the sight I may be subjected to should his crotch face me, I avert my eyes, suppressing a gag reflex.

“No that’s all right bye now!” I blurt out as I exit, slam the door behind me and run without ever looking back.

Dai_Loli, confused and disappointed: “What’s with him? Ah well, I guess I’ll do some more Bow Poses!”

And there you have it. By now you’ve either already stopped reading to go watch Anime De Training! Ex while breathing heavily with a dumb grin on your face (high five, brah!), or you’re making an angry rant on social media about how wrong it is. Every episode goes something like this: A new, cute stereotypical teenage girl appears, talks to you as if you were her training partner à la Training With Hinako, proceeds to do push-ups, sit-ups, etc. while the camera takes the lewdest angles possible, and then she basically climaxes after doing her reps.

If you would make a pie chart showing the percentage of anime viewers targeted by Anime De Training! Ex outside of Japan, the resulting piece of pie would likely be so thin it would be invisible, but I can assure you the people in that demographic are having a blast watching it, I sure am!

And episode 5 doesn’t count.

No one talks about episode 5.

Please let there not be more like episode 5.

Now I feel bad for being one of the few people to take the series, well, seriously.

But on that note, I have to say that the yoga episode was adorable. As someone who stretches every day (and I mean ankles behind head stretching, mind you), I found that the series actually motivated me to be more serious about my own routines.

And don't knock it! A good enough workout feels just as good as any orgasm!

Haha, don't feel bad, mkollersms. If anything, that's very commendable XD I've been going to the gym myself for many years and a good workout really is a great way to start off a day.

Clearly I've neglected to mention that, at its core, Ani Tore Ex is just trying to encourage us to have healthier habits : D

I watched the first episode and was so confused as to who this was supposed to be targeted at. It's a shame it's decided to be yet another fanservice series when I would have actually enjoyed an anime exercise show.

There was fanservice? I thought the difference between this and Hanako were astronomical. Still can't agree with 4 minutes of exercise=Ice Cream regiment. Just doesn't seem healthy.

I don't define fanservice so much by how "much" their is as the intent of the work; the camera angles and the cliche, ditzy girls pretty clearly mark this show as targeted at men wanting to drool out over them rather than anybody actually interested in physical fitness. It's clearly objectifying the characters.

Neither am I. The work of Hanako was clearly defined by the amount of skin shown and the awkward crotch angles, while this work actually kept it minimal to not at all for some episodes.

I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying. At a woman watching this, it felt really obvious the work wasn't actually targeted at girls wanting to exercise. ^^;

Why do I feel like admitting to writing fan fiction is such a terrible thing? XD
I just wanted to do something fun and different for this one

And I was supposed to make you curious to see episode 5 for yourself and then get hooked on the show in the meantime! Pff, fine!
