Hello all! I've been a console gamer for so many years, and now it's finally time for me to switch over from console to PC. I decided to go for a beautiful 4K build, and after doing some extensive research, I've managed to grab me a case and motherboard, but I refuse to buy other parts because.. I KNOW NOTHING XD

Is anybody here tech smart with building a PC, or anything? I would like to have a convo to confirm the parts I have listed down will make my PC run 4K resolution on a smooth 60FPS.

The first step is to determine user needs

Are you seriously sure you need 4K?

I assume you have at least a 60" TV set that's more than 8 feet away from where you're sitting

It's not a need, it's a want. I have a 50 inch that I sit pretty close to actually, but I love the maxed out looks of games, especially on Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I know everything there is to know about PCs. First off, 4K gaming is expensive, and even with the most expensive parts, you still won't run everything maxed out at 60 fps at 4K resolution. Also, tell me your budget? Do you have a monitor etc?

4K @ 60 fps? You would need at least two of GTX 980 Ti or GTX Titan X.

Trust me, I know the prices are killer, my budget is open to anything, but the more expensive, the longer it'll obviously take to get what I want, so it's an open budget to work with.

Which do you think'll last longer, or be more worth the buy? I was looking at the Titan, but also kept having "dual/quad this and that"

Ok, where are you from? I'll put something together. Also you said you already have a motherboard, what is it?

It's highly recommended to get new graphics card every 2-3 years for constant optimal gaming experience. I currently have a build with GTX 970 and it runs 1080p @ 60 fps no problem. But in few years, I would guess GTX 970 would run games in choppy 30 fps or 15 fps.

Get an Intel CPU, ASUS motherboard, & 16 GB of ram for your 4K setup. 4K graphics require 4X as many pixels as 1080P and about an equal amount of additional power from the graphics card. Unfortunately graphic cards are having a tough time keeping up with the ever expanding pixels on monitors/tvs. You might want to run below 4K with a cheaper card till card prices come down in a year or two.

If you get the mobo/cpu/memory with enough power your computer will still have a lot of life and power for future games. Graphic cards are upgradable so you can upgrade as they become more powerful. I have a 7 year old PC that runs skyrim, my only limitation is I am stuck with 4GB of ram and can't upgrade. If it wasn't for my RAM being the bottleneck I could keep going for another year or two.

ALSO.... IMPORTANT Make sure to dust out your computer every 3-6 months

Ok you said you already have a case and the motherboard. This will be the best parts for the money to get for 4K gaming.

The CPU is the best right now for gaming, don't listen to few others who say get an i7. There is no difference in games. All you need is 8GB ram for gaming, and Kingston is great for that. Then the other parts are just standard and good quality. The 980 ti will do well, in fact the next option beyond that for 4K gaming would be the Titan Z but that costs over a thousand. So it's up to you.

Also, if you need help building it all, just watch this video and you'll see it's pretty simple.

Do you have any other questions?

So what resolution is your TV? A lot of console players don't understand this but, you can't plug a console into a 4K tv and suddenly the games are 4K. They're not. Rise of The Tomb Raider is native 1080p.

So buying all those will get me set for a 4K PC Build? Wow, that's wow lower than the $2,500 build I had there, thanks so much!

For the 980 ti, one will suffice, no dual?
