I was giving my family some pre-thanksgiving cookies and other treats for them to try so I can make more of them for tomorrow.

The cookies, chips and rolls weren't exactly equal in size, so some were clearly bigger than the rest. I brought some to my family, which consists of 4 girls and 1 guy. The girls always grabbed without really paying attention. But my male cousin examined them carefully and chose the biggest one each time I brought something around. Even when there was no obvious biggest piece, he still selected carefully as is there was really a difference. Everyone else kept grabbing without a second thought.

What is this strange phenomenon? Are men wired to grab the biggest piece of nourishment? Whenever someone brings you treats, do you carefully select one? Do you just grab one without thinking? He does that with pizza as well. *Shrugs*

So I was thinking, if you made two burgers and one was bigger than the other. Would the man grab the bigger burger? What if you put two smoothies but one was larger, would the man go for the larger one? If you made two plates of stacked waffles, one with 2 waffles and the other with 4. Would the man grab the 4-stack waffles?

So! Are you a man? Do you grab the larger one? If you're not a man, do you witness men go for the larger portion? Do you think this is natural for him to go for the bigger one? Comment already!

Because we are pigs and like to gorge ourselves. Eating = happiness!

I want to be filled not have to eat 2 pieces of something small.

I usually eat more because I need more protein when I do heavy exercise routines.

because they're pigs!

it is the male nature to take everything and leave nothing for women and children.

God did a bum down job when he made Adam.

Your family should feed your cousin more probably.

When I was younger yes that tended to be the case however I would be stuffed and sluggish due to overeating. Now I'm a lot more sensible and tend to grab the smaller portion if provided to me or make a smaller portion so I don't feel bad afterwards and can go on through my day with a bit more ease, but it's too be noted that I'm a small male so I just need less in general.

It's not "men"

It's more "men in your culture"

Just depends on the individual I suppose.

Anyway, we'd need to repeat this experiment on a larger scale before we could begin drawing conclusions about the validity of either of our hypothesizes. The reverse may hold true in households with more males, i.e. the female examining the larger cookie and consuming it. Alternatively, it may have nothing to do with sex whatsoever and be a result of various different factors including (but not limited to) upbringing, mood, level of hunger, etc.
