I know I watched Eighth Man as a child and may have watched Gigantor but I don't know how old I was and I certainly had no idea then that they were from Japan.

The first anime I watched knowing it was anime was Akira when I was 37.

Let's see. I first saw New Dominian Tank Police when it was on a promo channel in like 1995 or 1994, so I was about six or seven. I didn't start seriously watching until the early Toonami days, though, which was about 1999/2000 so I was about 12.

My very first anime has to be Moomin Tanoshii Ikka and I must've been 3 years old. That doesn't count probably since I found about anime much later. So later on when I was probably 8 or 9, I watched Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu with my brother.

I first remember watching Pokémon, Digimon & Yu-Gi-Oh! with my brother on Saturday morning TV when I was 3-4. However I didn't become aware that anime was anime until I was about 14 when I first watched Death Note and Bleach.

It was on the old UPN 57, Every day before school Sailor Moon and Pokemon would be on I remember having to record it onto VHS tapes every day. Still got them! That would have made me 7 or so? Later on I got to watch the awful dub of Cardcaptor Sakura on the WB.

Technically, I would have been 5/6 with Sailor Moon, Dragonball, etc.

But I didn't start seeking out anime until about 12, when Adult Swim finally got its momentum.

Probably around six, but I didn't really care about it at all. Actually, my anime watching didn't explode until college.I was more into cartoons like cow and chicken and rugrats as a kid. I really didn't start paying attention to anime until long after I started reading manga when I was around 8 and read the random mangas my older sisters bought. Man, those manga were really not appropriate for kids...

I still prefer manga.
