What do you think of the Fat Acceptance Movement?
The Fat Acceptance Movement is widespread from schools, self-esteem seminars, The Mindy Project, video games (Ellie from Borderlands 2).

Some people support it, saying people should be respected and treated equally no matter what size they are.
Some take a moderate position and say people who are fat because of medical conditions should not be treated the same as those who can't control themselves.
Some are against it citing health reasons, cultural relativism, or just calling it "pc nonsense."

I think people should try to be healthy. Try. Try.

I think it a good movement. I try not to judge anyone. Cause some people can't help it though the ones who can should try to change their lifestyle to get a healthier life.

Some mixture of two and three. Voted two.

You shouldn't be a dick to people who are obese or hound them about it constantly, but you shouldn't really encourage that kind of lifestyle either. It's not healthy to live that way and it lowers one's life expectancy. And if people want to make fat jokes then let them. It always irks me when people get their panties in a bunch over the littlest things like that.

It's called comedy. Get over it.

I lump it up there with the drug abuse, alcoholism, smoker's acceptance movements.

If you can't help being fat, then you shouldn't be shunned.

If you're physically able to not be fat via dieting, exercise, and meditation, then.... well you know.

Some of it's fine, some of it's stupid. I don't really understand how people can get fat when I do no exercise, forced or natural, yet am closer to underweight than anything. Ultimate I don't care though. You go be fat and I'll go be whatever I want to be.

Pretty much. There are always people who have special circumstances, but I look at it as an issue of personal responsibility.

If you choose to define yourself as "fat" - an overall derogatory term in our day and age - then you must be prepared to deal with the consequences.

Well...

I understand that some people dislike that there are some, uh, unhealthy people in this world. But I can see where they're coming from. Just because someone is overweight doesn't mean it's okay to treat them like crap. But yeah, I agree that being overweight is unhealthy and people should do something about it. But still, it's actually very hard to lose weight. It takes some time. And nobody's perfect. It's harder for some people than others.. But it's just as unhealthy as being underweight, but people hardly ever care about that, huh?

The fact that it openly tends to promote obesity is disgusting.
