Monster - always a sterling choice, psychological thriller.
Shiki - is good, and fits under both categories.
Knights of Sidonia - would count, scifi horror with psychological elements.
Le Portrait De Petit Cossette - both categories again.

edit: completely forgot NaruTaru: Shadow Star - (this one is both, also exceptionally disturbing at certain points)
Shin Sekai Yori - basically one of the best psychological horror/thriller anime that exists.
Now and Then, Here and There - also a bit of both, also traumatizing.

There's a few others I can think of, but I'd have to add them tentatively~ and they might not be what you're looking for.

Shin Sekai Yori and Mirai Nikki were both great. I have forgotten the names of quite a few that I have seen.

Side Note: I am shocked all of you answered me. I feel like any forum I get on, I get blown off which sucks

I'm just starting a re-watch of Ergo Proxy as we speak, how did you guys like it? I can't remember much about it and I remember these first few episodes are good but I cannot remember the rest. Should I put this on hold for a must watch/essential from any of the titles you have mentioned, or others that come to mind?

SCHOOL-LIVE!
http://www.crunchyroll.com/school-live

SCHOOL-LIVE! is what happens when you mix moe slice of life with zombje apocalypse and psychological horror. If you want creepy and disturbing over gore and frights then give this show a try. If you do give it a try, watch ALL of the first episode.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

At first glance, Puella Magi Madoka Magica looks like a typical sweet to the point of diabetes magical girl show. Nothing could be further from the truth. This show firmly occupies that narrow ground between dark fantasy and psychological horror (there is a reason Crunchyroll has the psychological and thriller tags on this show).

I seem to remember Speed Grapher being a little messed up.

Garo gets pretty close to HP Lovecraft occasionally, but isn't terribly psychological. I still recommend it though.

If you liked Attack on Titan, then you might as well go watch Evangelion if you haven't yet. You might enjoy spotting all the parallels.

I didn't enjoy Chaos Dragon, but it had a really messed up plot device that gore hounds might enjoy. Perhaps for the same reason, I might suggest having a look at Terraformars, if you can find an uncensored version.

If you liked Elfen Lied, you might enjoy Birdy the Mighty. It has a stupid name but I was surprised how good it was, though nothing I'd call horror.
You might also like Aldnoah.Zero, which had maybe one of the most epic first episodes I've seen. Horror is subjective, but you've got to admit that squishing half the planet is serious business.

Rampo Kitan felt a little heavy handed, but it's not every day you see a plot about people being stuffed and sewn into furniture.

The person above me isn't kidding about School-live, either. It's kinda great, if a little slowish.

Just some ideas you might not have considered.

Higurashi, Monster, School-Live and Mirai Nikki were mentioned already, but I'll gladly second them. You could also try

Monogatari: I mean, yeah, mostly it's a dialogue-based comedy/ecchi show, but it gets into some very well-considered philosophical material that gives you a great idea of how its characters think, and while it normally does it in a fairly lighthearted way, it does deal with the supernatural.

Selector Infected WIXOSS/Selector Spread WIXOSS: Same kind of premise as Madoka Magica - a bunch of girls getting caught up in some really messed up supernatural contracts. IMO, WIXOSS pulls it off better than Madoka does by virtue of having more time to flesh out the characters.

Fate (Stay Night UBW or Zero): Lots of action and cool fights. Some of it is fairly tame and straightforward, and some of it is seriously disturbing. I personally like Zero better, but they're both good.

Gosick: More of a mystery, but it's got a pleasantly dark, gothic vibe to it, and its got its share of psychological/supernatural elements.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Straight-up shounen, but it's my favorite shounen precisely because it's full of horror and psychosis.

Gungrave: Similar to Monster, it's a mature story focusing on the dark side of society. It's got its share of Hellsing-esque violence as well, but there's a looot of buildup first, so you know exactly why all the fights are happening, and it's very personal.

Come to think of it, witchblade had an anime, and every time I was about to give up on it, it would present something totally bizarre, like the guy who turns into a microwave and just wants to "warm up pretty girls". Somebody with a weird fetish got their money's worth there, though again, I wish I could have torn my eyes away and turned it off sooner.
