guns and greed are deeply rooted in our (american) culture. through entertainment and constant fear that someone is coming to get us they will always be rooted in our culture. sad.

State government building.

And to be clear, gun free zones are meant to prevent spontaneous acts of violence, not planned acts of terrorism.

Did the place have metal detectors, did they have security? You never hear of mass shootings at gun shows or places where they allow guns. If they want to make a gun free zone then it is their responsibility to be prepared if someone wanted to bring a gun in the first place. As for the gunmen have they released any info i'm just seeing two down one still loose.

It's a government building, so probably. So far they're just saying the dead ones are a man and woman. Not much beyond that.

True I can't recall the last time I heard of a mass shooting taking place where people were allowed to carry. Every shooting I hear about on the news is it's always in a place where they ban guns. As for it being a government building I would at least expect them to have some kind of defense whether it be a security guard with a gun or even lock doors where you need a number to get in.

^or at-least bullet proof doors and windows with cement walls.

if you want a gun free zone make sure it can be locked down fast, otherwise your locking a bunch of people in with a armed madman with no means of defense. The highschool i went too has all the above mentioned and a police officer on site at all times.

At least wait a couple of days. I'm more tired of politicians trying to twist every tragedy until it fits their agenda.

Why do we let anyone have a gun?
whats wrong with a gun?

It's not the gun itself; it's more like we just give one to anyone without seeing if they are mentally ill or are just irresponsible. Guns are like cars; most can use one and there's nothing bad about owning one, but you gotta prevent the ones who'll use it irresponsibly from killing other people with it, even if unintentionally. That's why we have qualifications for driving and there should be better qualifications for owning and operating a gun.

2 suspects dead and a 3rd suspect apprehended. It looks like there is possibly a bomb in the building so they've sent in a bomb squad. Still no word on who these people are. One things for sure, they're not the same as the crazy guys we see on the news all the time grabbing a gun and shooting a school. These guys were extremely prepared and their scheme was pretty elaborate.

I wasn't too far from the area when it happened, apparently.

I didn't go into the area to check it out, but it sure is close. There was also a bomb in Anaheim at a Lowes last week or something, I think.
