Let me know if a thread like this one exist or not.
Thanks a bunches.

Explain your opinion in great detail. Sorry for the possible confusion.

I hate arguing because that adrenaline rush I get when I do start arguing. It feels wrong and abnormal to me that why I try not to get on anybody's bad side. Enough about that.

Opinions are tricky to me and I'll never completely understand them. I try respect everyone's opinion no matter what. But sometimes I just want to counter their opinion with my own. I feel like people have the right to state how they feel. Aren't opinions mostly about stating your feelings? People deserve to state their opinion without any insult but in today's society that isn't possible. But some people feel like you shouldn't say whatever you want to say even if it is your feelings. Is that wrong? Is it wrong to deny someone the right to state their opinion regardless of right and wrong?

Is it good for me to allow anybody to state their opinion regardless of my feelings? I still think respect should work both way but it doesn't. I feel like if I have an opinion, I am allow to express it the same way the other person is. But my problem is that I worry about upsetting the other person. That is where my low self-esteem comes into play.

Example(see here):

I like to become more like Person B. Is that wrong of me to want that? Is it confusing? I try to think that way but it is hard to. How can I do it?

TL;DR: Is it good to think like Person B?

I find arguing entertaining unless the person I'm arguing with is stupid.

TL;DR: Shuck person B, think how you think you should think, not how you think people think you should think.

You're welcome.

I do. For some reason, I like how Person B handled the situation without yelling or taunting.

Thank you.

Of course its not! an opinion is an opinion. rather the other takes it offense is up to them but theres nothing wrong with expressing an opinion.

That would depend on how you think.

In this case, I would say no only because I agree with Person B.

A racist saying "their opinion" is usually saying it to directly insult another person - and that is wrong.

I am fully supportive of freedom of speech - but only when it's opinion stated to be one's opinion, and not trying to sway others into doing something morally unacceptable with it. We all give our opinions to try to sway others to our way of believing, and that's natural - so saying this makes me somewhat of a hypocrite, but...

Opinions aside, something wrong is something wrong regardless of how you justify it, fact will not become fiction and immoral will not become moral. Things like racist comments are intended to bring shame / harm to another person, and that should not be allowed. It's hard to draw a line on sensitive subjects like that - but in my eyes racism is no longer an opinion if someone is trying to spread it around - it's akin to attacking someone.

I don't see it as a freedom of speech issue at that point.

I do agree with Person B's views on the subject, for the most part, but it depends ENTIRELY on the context as to whether it's actually just an opinion.

No, I think person B is in the right - in general. Context of what is being said could change that, though - but at that point Person B isn't defending someone's freedom to speak, they'd be defending someone's right to disparage others and bring them harm.
