they said that because said laptop is five years old, I might as well buy a new one.

Mine is 10 years old and counting! I feel emotionally attached to it since I've had it through every important stage of my life. Not to mention the new models of laptops really annoy me. They're all so small. How am I supposed to watch anime on such a small screen? And a detachable keyboard? Wtf is that about? I want a laptop, not a tablet.

Yes, most new laptops are small. However, MSI is still making laptops with large screens suitable for watching anime on HD.

I'll check them out then. But for some reason they didn't have any MSI laptops in PC World.

I love my laptop. The thing thats the worst is having to set everything up again. I feel like ive personalized my laptop so much it would be a bad time to lost it.

Not as much about electronics, more attached to stuff like my drumset. My girlfriend always teases me about "choosing my drumset over her" because I love to play it so much and actually treat it like a real person. I genuinely feel sorry and apologize aloud to the drumset if I see a non-drummer try to play it.

Is this bad?

Not the electronics themselves. I'm more attached to what I DO on said electronics, like my writing.

All of my entertainment budget is spent on streaming services and games at this point, so they're a source of enjoyment. But the actual physical laptop itself... ehhh, it could be so much better and I'm honestly looking for an excuse to get a new one.

I'm like you. I still have my TI and XT. Floppy discs, etc. I also love my car. It has been with me longer than any relationship. Come May 2016, 14 years together. I've driven it cross country for weddings, tournaments, visiting family and friends, sightseeing and vacation to Hawaii. He waited for my return to drive me back home. More dependable and reliable than my best friend. Never broken my heart. Always ready for an adventure. All he ask is I treat him well - which I might not have done on occasion. Tomorrow he will be awarded with new shoes (tires) and new joints (shocks).

Does anyone else have an emotional attachment to their electronics? Or is it just me?

I still have the first PC and the first Mac I ever bought. 1981 and 1986, respectively. Also still have the 5.25" floppies with my first BSD system on them. And the 3.5" floppies with my first copy of Windows. And the CD with my first Debian distro.

So... yeah. Totally. I get it. History in your hands is a powerful thing.

Well if you sweat meatballs to get electronics and invest money in a something might be a little bit obvious you'd get attached but generally i wouldn't since i wouldn't spend all my money in electronics.
