Amazingly, despite living with depression and surviving multiple suicide attempts, I'm in college now, I'm 18 and loving life. I'm doing great, whether it's academically, with friends, with basic social aspects and with work, everything's turned around and become a life worth getting out of bed for. It's nothing like the past.

I've been involved in politics, aligned with an Irish political party named the Social Democrats, and in my life feminism has been brought up a lot. Whether it's the amazing things it did for the economy, or for the liberation of women, however, currently, for me, it causes more problems than it solves.

I'm a Pharmaceutical Science student, a course that is involved in "Affirmative action" programs in the UK and the US, trying to force women into science. It's fine if they want to do it, but offering free tuition for people who don't even have the qualifications to do the course just because of their genitalia is ridiculous, it's depressing, and makes me think some people are just outright crazy.

In college, seeing signs from the feminist society has made me feel inferior, like I'm a problem, like I'm ridden with original sin and need to be cleansed. Whether it's signs saying "YOU ASKED HER FOR CONSENT, RIGHT?" or "I SHOULDN'T BE SCARED WHEN WALKING ALONE AT NIGHT.", it makes me and other guys I know feel like predators. It's not as bad as I see in other countries, where guys my age are forced to attend "consent classes", where laws are passed making prosecution of rape "Guilty until proven innocent" or "total, affirmative ongoing consent during sexual contact", the latter of which I agree with, but what constitutes consent? Verbal? How can that be proven? Recording it? I know guys that are afraid to initiate sexual contact without recording what happens for fear of being accused of rape, and we're not even one of those countries.

Above: Conversation in the Facebook group of York Feminist Society after the banning of "#InternationalMensDay" and the suicide of a student.

The funny thing? I'm a feminist when push comes to shove. Whether it's #FreeTheNipple or leg hair or abortion, I'm all for supporting it... But things like affirmative action, or consent classes, or trying to prosecute a man in Canada for disagreeing with a feminist, or stupid shit like "safe spaces", or making being critical "hate speech", or the gaming press and it's fetish for Anita Sarkeesian... Or the gaming press in general, but that's another topic... Or communism.

I want to know how you feel about it, especially if you're a guy. We can't keep allowing authoritarian actions like banning criticism, forcing people to take "consent classes" or forcing companies not to export "disrespectful video games". We need to think long and hard about what feminism is doing to the world, that it's not infallible, that it's consistently causing trouble in the developed world.

From experience, judging by my female friends' opinions on modern feminism, if that were the case, I'd have been much more rude and critical ^^'

I'm very sorry, I wish it wasn't the case. Crime happens, but that's not a gender issue.
I'm 6' 4", and nearly 200lbs. I play American Football as a lineman. 2 weeks ago when walking home from the nightclub (it took 2 hours *EDIT* nearly 3 hours... I got out at 2 am and got home at 4:40 am), I was afraid of a guy who walked about 200 metres behind me for around 70 minutes. It happens, the world is a shitty place.

Well Irish women can now get married and are allowed to keep their jobs instead of being forced to give them up.

They can now get contraception instead of smuggling it over the border.

They can get divorced.

Other things too, Ireland was a pretty shite country for women until surprisingly recently. We've come a long way. I didn't see any of the stuff you're describing when I was in uni.

For some reason, I was expecting this to be made by a girl.

Every time that feminists claim their movement is about gender equality and not about hating men, I'm reminded of TERF's, political lesbianism, "toxic masculinity," etc.

Feminism isn't about equality for all, that statement disguises the fact that women are oppressed. Feminism is about liberation from patriarchy.

All other things aside, the idea that 'the patriarchy' is a concept that actually exists in first world countries is very amusing.
