In about 100 years I think most would be very depressed. As everyone I know know has more than likely passed and I who would have not aged one bit.

Immortal life would be the worst curse that could be bestowed on someone.

You would watch the people you love, and your friends and family, get old and die. True, you could make new friends, and find new loves, but you would see them get old and die also.

Then there is the possibility of something happening that would kill off all of humanity, or worse, all living things, and you would be stuck here, the last man standing, all by yourself, possibly on a barren planet.

Could you see yourself living on a planet like Mars forever? Nothing living, no plants or animals, just you.

Truly immortal beings would probably only have one wish, to die.

Immortality would give me time enough to experience everything. Love and Loss. Friends and Solitude, Joy and despair.

I would watch my family fade and die, wander for a time in solitude, and start over in a new place with new friends. I would accumulate wealth and spend time in poverty. I would grow wise and foolish. I would learn much, and forget more. I would go mad and, eventually, find sanity on the other side.

I would watch civilizations rise and fall. Watch as mankind reached out to the stars, or do so myself.

I would watch the sun burn out and walk on alien worlds of my own design spinning around stars that have yet to be born.

Well, since an irrational fear of mine would to become immortal... I would spend every waking moment of my life trying to figure out how to kill myself.

If heaven/hell exist and I get sent there... I hope its hell at least. Keep me entertained. Still would need to find a way to kill my 'soul' though...

I find that very weird, immortality means constant survival which means constant experience. You'd be an apex being. I can't fathom why someone could desire non existence to existence. Oh well, carry on.

Assuming there's no limit to how much knowledge a brain can hold (like a cup of water) I'd learn every language, experience every culture, and I would develop a limitless bucket-list. I'd also learn how to create new identities, and other things spy-like so crazy people who would stop at nothing to get immortality wouldn't figure out I have it.

An eternity. After a time... All things will have been done, all stuff tried... All fun had. The Sun will die, Earth will burn, then freeze. A meteor will destroy earth. You are now floating through space for all of eternity. Alone, isolated, with no hope of ever meeting someone again in the vastness of space.

Doesn't sound very fun to me. I could see living... 200-300 years. Anything more than that would be torture.

Edit: Not to mention you could never love. Or you could... for the first 5 husbands/wives. I don't feel like loving after loosing 1. Time can only heal so many wounds before the scars stick forever.

You would take less care of yourself and almost completely disregard your own safety. Unless your immortal in the sense of longevity only. If your immortality doesn't allow you to resist mutilation, then you would have to be smart enough to still avoid serious injury. If you're immortal like Baccano characters, you probably still don't want to feel pain even if you can recover from injury.

Sounds all right to me. I don't see how you can cure boredom with death, death would be the ultimate form of boredom since you couldn't experience fun. I'd prefer torture to no torture and death. Existence is priority #1. Guess that's just me.
