It doesn't even have to be a death for it to hurt so bad....

Agreed....

Hurts pretty bad, just up and disappearing. The feeling of abandonment, it even got to me.

As in death? or drifting apart?

Death, I wouldn't know, never lost anyone from Death.

Drifting apart... It'll take me a year or two to get over it.

It hurts like a bitch, like really, awful, painful, sorrowful.. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

I would say I understand this pretty well right about now, as it sorta happened today.

Depends on how I lost them. If we just grew apart then it doesn't bother me as much. If the relationship became toxic then that loss hurts more. You wonder where everything went wrong. It sucks when a relationship turns sour.

Depends on the emotional connection level. Losing a relative you barely knew versus losing someone like your own child.....(God save any poor soul who would have to experience such a loss). I've lost people and didn't feel anything, I've lost others and it was all I could do to maintain a strong facade.

Varies depending on the person lost. I lost a friend a couple of years ago that hurt me way more than when a relative I didn't have much of a chance to spend time with died.

Depends. I've lost friends and it hurt, but I got over them pretty quickly. Sometimes friendships don't work out and there's nothing you can do about it.
But having a loved one die is excruciating. It's difficult to explain but at first it feels like the person leaves this hole within you and nothing you do can fill it. All you have is grief and even if you get rid of it momentarily it always comes back. As time goes by it starts to get a little easier every day. But you never stop wondering why that person isn't here or you wish you could share a moment with them.
