Ok so I am a "Popular kid" at school (10th grade) and so I always was too cool for anime but I want to get into it and I would like to know a few good animes. I want to watch something bright with subs or really good english voice acting. I've tried "Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica" but I don't believe its on here.

Ah, be nice guys, he just wants to watch some Anime. No harm in that, right?

So, for something in english, I recommend Cowboy Bebop.

For something "Bright with subs," I recommend Yuki Yuna is a Hero. You can check it out on CR here:

Glasslip (a well done slice of life)
Mars of destruction (an old series, but considered a masterpiece)
Ai Mai Mi (if you want a short and sweet series)
Sora no Method of you want a more recent series.

i strongly recommend that you watch all of them. you won't regret it.

Depends on what kind of stuff you like! I really liked the Soul Eater Dub, that one has good voice acting and great action scenes. Also maybe try Attack on Titan. Or go for a comedy like School Rumble. That one was really great!

What are you talking about? Mars of Destruction is the pinnacle of anime!
At least nobody has mentioned the anime that must not be named.

To OP: You might want to delete a certain term from your post, as referring to non-legal sites for anime viewing is not recommended on these forums.

This flowchart is a pretty good place to start. It hits a lot of the highlights and gives you an idea of what some of the bigger name series are you might be interested in. Then there are sites like MyAnimeList where you can find recommendations based on shows you liked or Hummingbird which has top lists that are very easy to browse through.

Also pages like these two will show you what's currently airing this season, and Senpai Charts can show you where they are being legally streamed if they've been licensed by anyone. At this stage if you're in the US almost everything gets picked up by somebody, although there are still occasional orphans you'd need to track down somewhere else or torrent.

You can also browse AMVs on Youtube, but there's a risk of spoilers and sometimes the actual show is nothing like what you might expect. But I used to find tons of new shows to watch that way, and still do sometimes. Plus there are some really great creators out there who spend a lot of time making really awesome AMVs it'd be a shame to miss.

Also don't mention non-legal streaming sites here to avoid being pounced on by mods. And welcome to the cool side.

Edit: As a side note, because the anime community is very internet-based; if you find an anime you want to check out, but then see somebody somewhere saying it's the worst trash to ever exist in the history of forever, just take it in stride. Usually it's just people being loud, besides the meme-level bad ones that have mostly already come up in this thread.

(Coming from someone who likes to be very vocal about his dislikes, but still wants others to enjoy what they want.)

Agree as well.

I am going to throw my hat into the ring with Nisekoi. It is not a finished show yet though.
