Anime now vs anime you grew up with.
Posted 12/5/15
Let me know if a thread like this exists, thank you. Without further ado, let's discuss.

Being fairly new to CR I thought it would make for an interesting thread to see if CR fans are more fond of anime they watched growing up or the anime of today.

While I like a lot of the newer shows, my heart probably rests in the shows I grew up with the most.

I don't mind today's stuff. It depends on which anime I'm watching.

But there's something about Studio Ghibli movies that's timeless.

I don't notice a difference except for the quality of the animations.

Other than that, these anime characters have always acted the same!!!!!

Loved the anime I grew up with. Still have a bit of the gritty style/art nostalgia whenever I watch them again, but I also like a lot of the newer anime.

To be honest though, not much has changed other than the quality of animation. You still see the same tropes, the same archetypes. Only, moe and ecchi are far more common/popular than they were in the past.

My standards got higher over time. I got more nitpicky on the art style and now I can't stand watching 2000s anime. Well, with the exception of long-running ones such as Case Closed at least.

Good God no, I am an audiophile to the extreme so all the old fashion anime drives me up the wall most of the time. So many audio bugs five freaking minutes of work would fix. I am of the opinion that most of the old fashioned anime creators were lazy sacks of shit who couldn't be bothered to do five minutes of post processing. I mean you have the odd exception Studio Ghibli being chief among them but even they are wholly free of the audio laziness.

Sorry It bugs the living hell outta me when something doesn't sound right. And when I can hear static and all the snap crackle pops it makes it even worse.

older anime tended to have better stories vs some of the mass produced generic stories that keep getting produced somehow. Some of the newer anime has great story but so much of it is the same thing in a new situation.

I also liked the animation for older fights it has a neat look to it.

We have gone from fist of the north star to that show were loli idol girls teach you push ups.

I don't think I even need to say anything to describe this transition.

Same has always. Thou modern anime has better audio and better music most of the time.

I never understood this comparison between childhood favorite anime vs adulthood. You're not the same person as you were back then... you probably had more tolerance for cliches and things like that. Whereas in adulthood, you have less tolerance for cliches, so you're always going to think the current anime is worse than the childhood ones.

When in reality, both are the same, it's your perspective that's changing, not the quality of anime. I rest my case.

I grew up with Bleach, some Pokemon, and some Naruto. The only good anime I remember growing up with was Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, even though I didn't watch all the episodes.
