Your current take on American patriotism
Posted 12/6/15

Might have been one before, but this is a new thred anyways..

What do you think about america being the center of the universe in our global community?

I think excess patriotism alienates it from its neighbors, militarism costs millions, and cripples the economy.

Have you ever looked on google on what the world outside the us thinks of americans, particularly american tourists?

Stereotypes, please, "Doa youa speaka Englishu?"

What do you think of us military bases everywhere? Is it the duty of the us to police the world?

What do you think, does the world need its big brother, the us?

Explain your views and discuss.pls.

I think USA should pull out of NATO and the UN and tell everyone to deal with their own shit for awhile.

Really though, it's time to pull out of NATO. Re-adjust to support countries like Poland that aren't worthless fucks and go from there.

But you already know my opinion on that subject don't you?

Be kinda hard to since the US basically pays for a fourth of the overall NATO budget and we certainly are the bulk of the military forces currently present in Europe. In order for us to pull out and not have certain parties take advantage of that various European countries would have to increase their military spending/capabilities. Suffice to say thats a hard sell. People love to bitch about the US but the sad truth of the matter is that its our armies in Europe and Asia that have been keeping the world from falling apart since the end of WW2 and unless countries in these regions are willing to spend the money and manpower needed it will remain that way.

I don't like the way people online assume things work the same way as they do in the US in any other country, so you always have to clarify that you're not speaking about America. Especially when it comes to stuff like laws, social issues, healthcare etc

They'll outlaw it eventually.

i think the plan was and is to weaken Russia. Unsurprisingly, it was recently announced that the Europe budget will be increasing.

Agreed. I'm tired that our blood is spill in conflicts that are not ours. The countries that we support don't appreciate the sacrifice. We should stop supporting countries that continue to support our enemies. We could use the billions spent on them to help our own. What value is a house if the foundation is weak?

Americans, meh, they’re not the best. They have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with them to the rest of us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

That's what I mean.

Everybody is below spending limits, the UK only hits the 2% by overpaying gross amounts for studies. Other than Poland, everybody isn't hitting the amount of GNP for defense spending.

It's not just that, it's that the USA gets bitched out for doing something, then bitched out for not doing something, our "allies" are weak as hell, with underfunded defense spending and no equipment and they all aren't spending the amounts that they agreed to spend on defense.

This comic isn't a joke.

We have allies in Europe with an airforce of 5 jets and no armor.

I believe you. I say we close our bases in Europe and Japan and bring home the troops. Let them fight Putin on their own. Eventually he will start eyeing Europe or the countries that were under the Soviet Union and force their submission. Let Japan fight China on their own. They don't want us there anyway and they can now have their own military so use them.

If anything we should join forces with China and Russia and just cause the rest of the world to piss themselves.

Yeah, and that sucks. I would love it if we could just close down every oversea base and bring our troops home but many member nations of NATO are close allies of ours. We can't exactly leave them to defend themselves. Not only would that leave Europe vulnerable but it would also burn a lot of important bridges. It be a real bad move politically.
