Clannad: After Story : The most emotionally powerful story I've ever run across.

I read a review that said something like "I knew I was in for an emotional ride, but i didn't expect my heart to get used like a hacky-sack!" Too true. But then... the cheap as end
*seriously, this is the end getting spoiled, don't open it if you havn't seen it*

Amine just makes me happy.

I like the art.
I like how they move and their facial expressions.
I like that some characters act like me.

I never played the game, that sounds like a much more satisfying ending. And I totally get why Clannad AS anime had to wrap up the way it did... I feel a little retribution here. That said, the anime on its own still had a cheap as ending :P

Ty for the explanation, you may have convinced me to play the game...

This series made me cry on episode freaking 2. Nothing sad happened in the episode. It was just overwhelmingly beautiful that I was actually brought to tears. Beautiful, amazing series.

I just discovered Yakitate!! Japan. Samurai Champloo was cool. Wicked City always reminds of the potential of the medium

I watch anime because animation can offer experiences that you can't get from live action shows. So my picks are...

Hunter x Hunter - It's the only long-running show I'm fond of. It's a great adventure series that breaks a lot of traditional stereotypes of the genre. Each arc changes things up quite a bit.

JoJo - Utterly perfect. It's unique blend of off-the-wall humor and 80s action is wonderful.

Psycho Pass S1 - A bleak future done right. Probably the best psychological thriller since Ghost in the Shell.

Witch Craft Works - I don't think this show was properly appreciated when it first aired. The show is incredibly fun and crazy and it could never work in a live action format.

I'd like to second Death Note and Code Geass.

But, I'd also like to throw in Natsume Yuujincho. It's not as epic as the former two, but it's a wonderful "piece of mind" anime. A feeling I find hard to create with live action.

Mushishi - amazing episodic story telling with a fairly unique protagonist, a bit melancholy
Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope) - realistic coming of age story with great jazz/bebop music that is exceptionally expressed through the animation
Barakamon - fun, light-hearted, heart-warming and a bit inspiring
NANA - realistic romance/drama with punk rock music as a main sub genre
Samurai Champloo - unique samurai anime with great story telling and a chill hip-hop ost
Usagi Drop - a realistic, touching, heart-warming story about a man raising a child, who is also his aunt

Your Lie In April. Such a beautiful series. One that I'll remember for a long time.

Gakkougurashi! was the one to get me into anime in the first place.
