Selective breeding is not the same as genetic modification in a lab setting, which I forgot when I made that first post, so just keep that in mind.

They achieve the same effect in many cases, though. It's just the differing means to the same result. Altering DNA directly is faster but people think it's bad when selective breeding can often accomplish the same thing.

People are ridiculous. I understand that marijuana is not as harmful as people thought it was 20 years ago, but smoking weed is NOT harmless. People are going overboard with marijuana now. They say it's healthy and you should do it every day and it cures cancer and a lot of other BS.

Also I don't like what's currently being done with Gmo's, not the hybridization that we influence through selective breeding but when we make every cell in a plant produce pesticides I begin to question whether or not I should be eating it. I don't think it's a government conspiracy though more like a good intention with questionable results.

I know where you're coming from but as far as we can tell the level of pesticides we use is considered relatively safe and you can see that people are definitely living longer now with pesticides than they did without them. Food should be cheap and easily accessible too, and if we don't use pesticides we would not have enough crops to feed our population, which is basically condemning poor people to death if we all hoped on that "GMO's are the devil!"-tip.

Nice try Hanson, you basically just told everyone you're a government agent, last time I take your word for anything.

I'm watching you 24/7.

They also have no problem with carrots even though the fact that the carrot is fucking orange is do to people messing around with selective breeding. Which is all really GMOs are.

They have no problem with corn, either. Wild, natural ancestors of corn were tiny and nearly inedible since the kernels were so fibrous.

Both function on the same principle of removing and adding genes. Its just different ways of going about it.

I remember reading an article - I think from the BBC - when bin Laden was killed back in 2011. People were spouting all sorts of theories about how bin Laden was either still alive or had already been dead for years. The article described how people who believed he was still alive were just as likely to believe he was already dead, or even both at the same time. These people are weird.

One takes longer and the other is done is a lab. Everything that comes from a lab must be toxic.

Most problems have more to do with government incompetency than conspiracy. I wish the government had it together enough to organize a conspiracy.

Exactly.

They can't even work together long enough to get a few soldiers out of Afghanistan. There's no way they can be organized and well-coordinated enough to pull off something like a renewable energy scam.
