The Flash streams come from a different CDN than the HLS streams used for devices. There are two workarounds:

1. If you have Windows 10, use the Windows 10 app.
2. If you don't have Windows 10, use the unofficial HLS player extension for Chrome:

With all the freezing going on, I've been using the Windows 10 app, which, so far for me, has not frozen. I do not like its interface, nor does it always play a stream, saying it is not found even though the web interface has it and plays it. Also, the web interface is much more robust, so I end up switching between the two.

The video for the website and the app are served from different locations and are different encodes. The one of the app may at times be delayed, sorry about that.

Did my trial planning to sub for at least a month, but this issue is infuriating. Watching on a browser on a Windows 10 system, the video freezes, timer shows 00:00, and i have to refresh. Same on both my netbook and my extremely robust desktop PC. Certainly not going to sub if the product is this frequently dysfunctional.

Since you have Windows 10, you may want to give the Crunchyroll app in the Windows Store a try. It streams from a different CDN (the same one as devices), and may not be affected for your area.

I'm running a variant of Kodi called OpenELEC with the Kodi Crunchyroll add-in. Over the last couple of weeks, I've noticed that I have the problems described earlier (buffering, frame skipping and the picture turning to garbled mush) on some nights and other nights playback is near-perfect. Advice to install the Windows 10 app or Chrome plug-in is useless in this situation and I'd rather not be forced to watch on my iPad or iPhone's smaller screen when I have a 60" and 70" TV I could be watching on comfortably.

It doesn't seem to matter what I try to watch on Crunchyroll on the nights playback is poor, I get the problem with multiple series. At the same time, if I flip over to the Funimation app and watch something, it's flawless. To add further data to this, just last weekend I moved to a new house with a different ISP provider and having the same problems. It appears to me that the problem is just lack of bandwidth or quality-of-service on Crunchyroll's end.

I really want to keep watching, Twin Star Exorcists has become my new favorite anime, but unless I can find a way to resolve this issue, I may have to cancel my sub.

I, like many people apparently, am having a similar problem. The video just freezes at random points. I was even willing to knock it down to 720p, but since it's apparently not a bandwidth issue, that doesn't do anything! I'm currently on a free trial and would love to pay the $7 a month for the great anime and quality of the service (other than this problem), but at this point, I won't because everything is literally unwatchable.

Has anyone come across any fixes for this that don't require using the windows 10 app?

At the beginning of DEC I had to watch shows on CR elsewhere which I pay

I started watching the new season and got through 2 / 3 shows no problem ! Then I had use the Popout which worked for a while !

So I switched Browsers ( Of course History Cache was clened for the PC ) and still would freeze up.

I dont have Windows 10 but my Browsers / Flash are all updated even before I tred watching again.

I changed the DNS a couple of months ago and worked well until DEC

Back with another disappointing update. Issue has persisted since original post.

I have done two new things to try and fix it, first was DNS which changed nothing. The second test was to set up my old computer in my current ones place, same cables ect. No issue at all on my old computer, after switching back to my new computer issue was still there.

The Beta HTML5 player was working amazing, no issues at all. Then after using it for a while, just long enough to make me feel like I was free, the player stopped working entirely. Won't even start playing, just sits with the little loading circle in the middle.

I have not attempted any trouble shooting on the beta HTML5 player, just lost hope and went back to the regular one.

I also have still not found another streaming service which gives me this issue.

- Twitch works
- Amazon Prime works
- DAISUKI works
- All not so legal anime streaming sites I have tried work.

Crunchyroll still works on every other thing on my network. 4 Computers, consoles, ect.

Any troubleshooting tips for the HTML5 player?

Fun Fact: Its been buffering the entire time I have been writing this.

The buffering animation may be playing, but the code for the player includes a syntax error preventing it from loading at all (though I have heard that it still works in safari). Not much you can do for troubleshooting, but I have been told that it is being worked on.

I have the same damn issue. Both of my PCs on multiple networks stop playing. It first happened over a month ago but the problem disappeared in a few days. It started again yesterday. Had to refresh page around 15 times for one episode. After 8 minutes, the video played fine for around 10 minutes before freezing again.

Dear CrunchyRoll,

Please use some of the money I'm giving you to buy a new server farm so my video won't stop in the middle of streaming to load during hours of high network activity. I recently saw that you have a commercial out, marketing for new customers. I understand the need for more customers on a corporate level, but if your servers can't handle the ones you already have then the issue will only be compounded. The result could be a net loss of customers.

,Love loyal members and anime lovers

*EDIT:
P.S., And for the love of god, please do not plan on fixing it with paid priority...
