Why do we ignore all the good things in the world and only shed light on the bad things?
Posted 12/9/15 , edited 12/9/15
All I've been hearing about is all the bad things going on in the world, but what happened to all the good things that humans do?

Also share some things that restore faith in humanity (if you want)

Because bad things shock people.

I don't know any good things to share sorry.

its pretty much human psychology to not concern oneself with good things that wont endanger them but be obsessed with the one bad thing that happened

I remember once a homeless person found a American flag bunched up and thrown on the ground he picked it up and folded it correctly.

A guy was selling CDs of his show to raise money to afford treatment for his sisters cancer. I didn't have enough to buy his CD but I gave him what I had left, as a thank you he gave me one of his CDs anyway.

Your observation in every astute and this thread that you've started is great! That makes you awesome! I mean, you were awesome anyway, but now I know it. Also, your avatar is sweet.

^Shared something to restore faith in humanity, noticed the good things humans do.

I havn't noticed any bad things recently... I guess I wasn't paying attention :P

Because it easier to focus on the bad than the good. A story about someone being murdered illecits a stronger emotional reaction than a story about a little girl who feeds the homeless. When people get angry or sad about something they feel like by having an emotion they are some how connected and or helping the situation in question.

Never have faith in humanity. That kind of faith leaves a person with no sense of contentment.

Not everyone ignores them, some people absolutely relish and rejoice in them. (Cookie anyone?)

However sadly, bad sells. Tragedy, disaster, fear, unusual, etc sell alot more papers and commercials than the happy pretty stuff.

Well, you have to take the good with the bad sometimes, but when the good shines, it shines. And there is always something that needs to be put right.

Like others, I have my way of doing good things, but sometimes even after that, there is no rest for the wicked, here's just one of the many, many "small" things people where I live have to put up with on a daily basis, and do something about it if possible: I live in a good neighborhood with bad neighbors (some of them have crime connections), and some time ago, I heard a scuffle near my house, I went out the balcony, and saw a guy with this huge german shepherd, his dog had just killed a cat. The cat had a broken leg, probably caused by a car, and had no chance to escape from the dog. I felt really sad and wished I had seen it happen to stop the dog, but I thought "maybe the dog's owner feels pretty bad too".

Then, some days after that, I heard more fight noises outside. I went out, and saw the same german shepherd attacking another dog, they had to be separated by several men. The owner only appeared when they started separating them. I thought that was really suspicious.

And then, it happened: I was just finishing some work related things, and through my window, there were two small cats being cornered by the same owner and his dog, and this time, I was seeing how that disgraceful excuse of a human being was taking the leash off of his dog so that it could attack the cats! That's it! I stomped outside of the house ready to beat the crap out of both owner and dog, but both of those animals (yep, the owner and the dog) saw me, and they got so scared, they turned tail and ran away. I was wearing my superman shirt too, maybe they thought "this guy is insane, he thinks he is superman". There was also this little kid with his mom passing by and said "mom, what does the S stand for?" That was pretty funny.

I had to talk with some law enforcement people to warn them of this idiot, so that they keep an eye on this animal killer. Back then when it happened, in Mexico, you could try to talking to the cops right when something bad happened, but there is an elevated chance you will 'receive help' from a corrupt police officer, and that turns things even worse. Did I mention that the dog owner belongs to 'high society'? So it was somewhat risky because you never what connections a guy like that can have, but sometimes, you just have to do the right thing yourself.

Because the media shoves all the bad things in our face so were raised as a child only thinking that bad shit happens.
