Do you know any self-made millionaires? And if so, what are the most consistent traits that you see among them? We're talking about people who were able to go from being a member of the middle class community, to becoming a millionaire. Do you find that there's any general commonalities among people who were able to achieve millionaire status?

I think luck is a big part of it.

My mom's friend's ex-friend was a millionaire because he invented the chip used in planes for either navigation or autopilot idk. but yeah then he monopolized on it, and after the patent expired, I guess yeah with all those planes around all over the world, he retired or something.

I know of another, and it's more of a social story, but luck was a big part of it too.

What would you do that would make you happy if you had a million dollars? Then with what you have what could you do that is like that that you could afford? Thus you try to be happy within your means. I mean the whole plan of having a million dollars is that you live off that the rest of your life.

i did but he died

he's the only one i've known so idk what he was like would be true of others . i will say he was an interesting fellow and extremely generous with what he thought was worth investing money into. but if he didn't think it was worth it... don't expect much.

I know people who are independent and quite well-off for their age, but they aren't millionaires. Not yet, at least. I wish I was like them, but my skills are just too different for me to be able to do their jobs. They're into computers, medicine, etc.

I'm sure they'll be millionaires in the future. One guy has a job that's paying him nearly 80k a year and he's my age. And he has a house already.

My best friend is starting to practice urology as well. His girlfriend is a nutritionist and they already have their own two-story house in Seattle.

Meanwhile, I'm barely at the 40k mark.

Pretty much what Stars201 said.

My grandfather is a self made millionaire. He studied hard, went to West Point, became a Lieutenant General in the Army, then worked as a contractor in the Pentagon.

He now lives happily in retirement working on occasion while living in a very big house with a inside pool, minibar, hot tub and what not. He earned it, he can now enjoy it.

Also, my Uncle is a self made millionaire too. He played it smart, took up struggling businesses, got them up and running, then sold them off for a profit. I don't like this Uncle much though. He is an asshole.

I know one. This is probably gonna be disappointing, but he's honestly just like pretty anyone else. You probably wouldn't realize he was ridiculously wealth if you talked to him. He got really rich because he started a paper company at like the exact time that paper became way cheaper to produce than it had been in the past. Because of that his profits just skyrocketed. He says he didn't really plan for that happen, but he's cool with it.

Why is coming from the middle class one of the requirements, I think coming from the lower class is much more admirable.

Anyway the self made millionaire I know is my bosses. With my transfer out of full time service to the army reserves I needed a job and it turns out the dairy farm I worked on as a teenager needed a new foreman. The owners are a twin brother and sister who grew up in an orphanage and were adopted by a dairy farmer and his wife. This dairy farmer had a very small herd of about 30 cows and was barely scrapping by. My future bosses helped out as a matter of course and on their 25th birthday their adoptive father and mother died in a freak storm off the coast of the Baja peninsula were they had been staying for a winter vacation.

The farm passed into my future bosses hands, along with some sizeable debts. But I guess they were a determined pair and by the time I came around they were sitting on 270 acres of land and 387 head of dairy cows. Along with about 4.3 million in the bank. Despite their age of 56 they work just as hard as their hired hands and actually put us to shame. They pay us well and are generous with any time off we might need.

Luck, sure, but you gotta be in it to win it.
They have goals and they don't quit no matter what. It's that simple.
