Underage Drinker
Posted 2/9/08
Drinking under the age of 21 isnt a problem. Im from Europe and the countries I have lived in have 15 year age limits, which I think might be a little too young, but 21 is too extreme. I will see groups of 14 year olds hanging around in groups outside of the shopping centers acting very cool and drinking their beer, all I can say about them is that they are a bunch of losers trying to act cool. Im all for alcohol and think its great fun, but if you cant find anything better to do when your 13 than get wasted, then you have a problem.

"My friends are another story (two in particular since they decided to bring gin to school on two separate occasions and how they would often call me “pussy” for only drinking beer (they are good friends and we all share common beliefs also most don’t do any other types of drugs)."

There is NOTHING wrong with drinking beer!!! Just means you can have more of it and still remember most of the evening, also beer hangovers arent as bad. Wine just gives you a headache. Hanging out with a bunch of friends and having a few beers is one of my favourite things to do. Another plus side of beer is that its relatively cheap compared to hard liquer.

I think alcohol shouldn't be given to teenagers, while in the state of adolescence, they make common mistakes, and when they say," I'll only have a little..." They never do. It shouldn't be drunk it public areas where children could see, cause they'll think it's cool and get someone to start or buy them some. I think alcohol is okay, but if you're underage its plain stupid. If you start because of Peer pressure, that means you just wanna be in the 'in' crowd.

me and my friends enjoy occasional drinking.
i guess its a way to battle stress, or sometimes just to celebrate.
yes. college is indeed stressful and birthdays are to be celebrated
btw, im 17 so im definitely underage.
i have never been drunk. just dizzy.
its all about learning when to stop!
its especially fun to drink with girls.
just keep your flirting in check,
wouldn't want to have a baby this early would you?

Well, I was drunk for the first time with the age of 15. But I never felt like abusing it. I am referring to the consumation of it. I drink only on occasions, like parties or important some other important occasion(music concerts...).
From the age of 15 to 19 I used to go every Friday to pubs and drink till I was fully drunk. There were many nice experiences and also bad ones. As my body seems unable to cope with the alcohol, I get every morning a hangover after a night full of drinks. But I never regretted it. It did actually also lead to my mental growth. The drunken world brings you in very interesting situations. ^.~

And as we know, making something illegal won't stop the youth from consuming it. It is also quite a big psychological matter. Something that is illegal seems to be more attractive than something that is legal. It was always like that. Many people want to try it, cuz it gives them the feeling of being a bit more adult(since it is only for the adults) and they also feel attracted to it, because as I already mentioned it is illegal.
Anyways it is bad to drink too much and at a too young age. It might stop your physical growth.....and so on.
And alcohol in itself doesn't taste good, but luckily they add quite a lot of sugar..
Feel free to drink but do it with control.

Flo~

Drinking is a way of maturity. Although, like they say, Drink Moderately.
But, like me, I now drink. Yeah. Alcohols, damn it ^__^ (Occasionally though)
It's a part of Adolescence. That's to me, though =P

You'd be surprised about just how many underaged drinkers there are over in Europe, especially the UK. I will admit, I do drink. I don't drink all the time but when I'm at a party or having a special night with friends I will but I think that if you're mature enough and you know when enough is enough then it's not that big of a problem. But the majority of times that I've had alcohol has been at home or at least with my parents around anyway, which is probably the only good time for a teenager to drink if they are to.

I totally understand you. Some stupid people I know are all like, "Yeah let's get hammered tonight!" and the rest of the bs but if I am going to drink, its only because I like to have a drink. I'm not going to do it to get drunk purposely. If anything, I'd have thought that everyone would wanna avoid getting drunk... its a horrible feeling :S

Not all people drink because they think its cool... maybe they drink because they like the taste of it, okay? I agree that some people don't know their limits and so on but you can't say that about all drinkers and just because someone drinks alcohol it doesn't mean that they will definately get drunk.

if you drink in order to get drunk, you are indeed volatile.
this mindset is true to person in age or underage or overage.
it is the mindset, not age that matters.

looks like alcohol is the last legalised drug on earth.

underage is just a guideline as alcohol can be addictive as well.

used to be cool binging and holding up your drink but now moderate drinking is key.

why underage is banned or discouraged? logical reasons are
- maturity (being aware of the consequences of drinking)
- body tolerance of alcohol is equivalent to body mass (easier to get drunk if you are smaller size)
- $$$$, drinks cost (if you are underage, whose money you are spending!!!)
- alcohol is a slow death (kills your liver, if you start young, you end up harming your liver more)
