OH MY GOD I can relate to that. I know this happens especially often in game design.

One group i was in tried to make a game about privacy. They wasted a lot of work and time making an interface more complicated than it needed to be, and their writing was below average DESPITE THE FACT THAT PRIVACY IS CURRENTLY AN IMPORTANT AND COMPLICATED TOPIC. When we were giving a presentation on the project, the first thing my team said about what went wrong was that they were over-planning, which was nice, because I was pretty ticked that we cut out a lot of various things. The next and last thing they said was that THE GAME ENGINE WE WERE GIVEN WAS SHIT JUST BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T SPOON-FEED THEM SOME CONVENIENT FEATURES!!!

Don't get me wrong, the game we made was okay, but we were reeeaaaaally stretching it when we were planning this game to get an award. I was NOT expecting this to happen since all of my teammates were upperclassmen.

Another project had me working with only one partner this time, and he had the idea of trying to represent elections using A MATCHING PAIRS CARD GAME. I was WAY TOO LATE when I realized how dangerous this was for our grade. After I convinced him to come up with a new ruleset and theme, he stopped meeting with me and decided he was gonna do that all by himself.

At least he didn't try to throw me under the bus and get me in trouble. The new game even turned out to be workable.

I am very thankful I haven't gotten a "Lily" situation yet, but everything could've turned out much worse in both stories.

I had horrible teammates/group members for every project I ever had to do is HS or college. Each time I would simply complete the entire project myself as the other members either failed to do their part, or submitted sub-par work that I did not want influencing my grade. It pissed me off the first few times, but after that I just expected to do all the work and that was that.

I'm okay with a bad team mate, as long as he is willing to listen to me and follow my command, but if you're overall idiot who insists he knows what he's doing, you're a horrible team mate.

I was always the person forced to join a random group because no one would want to work with me, then the rest of the group would ignore me and not ask for my opinion on anything.

Oh man sorry to hear about that, that sounds like it was awful. I'm doing senior design next year. You got me worried now haha. I'm in computer engineering too. I usually end up doing most of the work when on teams.

Back in grade school, my drama class was given an assignment and split into groups of four. Unfortunately, two members of my group were bitter enemies who hated each other's shit with a passion. Then one of them (let's call him Crybaby Bitch for the sake of the story) throws a fit about having to work with the other guy and decides to Unofficialy leave our group. Fast forward two weeks, and our assignment is nearly finished (after putting in extra effort to complete an assignment designed for four people with only three). All of a sudden, Crybaby Bitch shows up looking like a kicked puppy and asks/begs us to put him back into the group. Needless to say, we blew up and told him to fuck right off.

Tl;dr - Crybaby Bitch failed the assignment and we were scolded for ostracizing him.
