No. They can wear what they want, but I will not support that type of surgery. You have surgery to repair and not break.

To be fair, I am also against smoking, drinking, and drugs. I am not going to support anyone who harms themselves physically just so they can scratch a psychological itch.

This specifically. I don't want to be the guy to say you can't express yourself and alter your own body, but if you think you are a woman inside when you are a man on the outside (and vice versa), you should probably see a psychologist first before you make any irreversible changes.

Society doesn't want to say this (because honestly people now a days get offended by EVERYTHING), but wanting to be a different gender IS a mental disorder called Gender Dysphoria.

I would support my child if they were the devil himself. Not that I believe in the devil but if he/she sprouted horns and had a pair of giant black dogs with giant flickering flameball eyes then I'd still love and support them. I'd just be careful not upset them lol. Can you imagine grounding that child? Or better yet a time out?

Seriously though, I would support my child NO MATTER WHAT. I don't have children and there's a lot of reasons for that but if I did I would do everything and anything to make sure they are loved and that they know it. Isn't that what a parent is supposed to do?

Reason why this label is avoided is because it'll give those conservatives ammunition, claiming it's reversible and citing it as an example of mutilations. I'm not going to use such a word if people are going to misunderstand.

Honestly, I don't know what I would do. I hope I never have to deal with that kind of situation.

Somebody I know (male) said they wanted to be a girl all through his childhood. After becoming an adult, he got the surgery and is now happily married (to a man), with a child (adopted).

It's so nice to seeing the amount of people that opted to support their child if they were to go through this situation. Although you'll hardly see this kind of support outside the internet sadly o(╥﹏╥)o

Definitely and I agree with you. If every illness was reversible, there wouldn't be people locked up in insane asylums their whole lives.
And conservatives have no right to complain about mutilation considering many religious people (At least those following Judaism) mutilate their new born kids.

Anyways, I'm not an expert in this matter so obviously my opinion and thoughts shouldn't be taken as advice as I could be completely wrong.

Going to a psychologist is highly recommended. It helps the individual figure themselves out. Transitioning is a quite hard process that takes time, patience and a lot of strength.

I knew a transgender woman to man once.
He was like "You're so lucky you're still able to feel pleasure"
I was like "How, I'm not the one who went and had a surgery"

Sure why not but I ain't paying for a surgery they will have to do that themselves when they grow up. Teach him or her to support themselves.

Damn 13? I think that is still too young to be altering your body permanently. Between 13 to 18, a teenager could end up changing preferences A LOT and then regret making life altering changes.

Well yeah, alot of 13 year olds I know are stupid fucks. Hmmm. Ok they can decide when their 19 or 20, but I aint paying for the surgery.

I have never...EVER....met a 13-18 who thought they had the ideal body, for any reason. The baggage just sort of comes with the "search for identity" territory.

(Well, I wouldn't hang any tall flower arrangements on the second floor balconies while they were riding their tricycles indoors, if that's what you mean.... )

If you could feel pleasure, you wouldn't need surgery in the first place.

Ugh, srs isn't getting your genitals removed. That would be like saying turning a sock inside out is "removing" it.

Now, just because a few mad doctors have figured out a new way to mutilate the human body, suddenly Gender IS a choice.

it's nonsense.. the human animal has always had elements of BOTH genders within it. an we all "deal" with it as best we can.

because the plain truth is, NO ONE is 100% happy with who they are, and would like to change themselves, even if only for a little while.

but, God doesn't make mistakes. learn to BE who He made you and LIVE with it..

We can find transgender people throughout history. For instance, the mukhannath in the Middle East, who had a funny reaction to being forcible castrated:

Tuways: "This is simply a circumcision which we must undergo again."
al-Dalal: "Or rather the Greater Circumcision!"
Nasim al-Sahar: "With castration I have become a mukhannath in truth!"
Nawmat al-Duha: "Or rather we have become women in truth!"
Bard al-Puad: "We have been spared the trouble of carrying around a spout for urine."
Zill al-Shajar: "What would we do with an unused weapon anyway?"

Beside the fact that many transgender people don't even want sexual reassignment surgery, gender and sex are two entirely separate things.

It's easy to talk about God and how no one can be 100% happy when you aren't the one suffering gender dysphoria.

I'd encourage them as many times as needed to believe in themselves and who they are regardless of society.

So you trust an invisible being whose existence is rather hard to believe more than 2000 years of scientifical research? Would you mind telling me why exactly?
