There are hundreds of predictions from different people that there are good chances of some guessing correctly. How about the moderators set a thread lock time and date for this thread? Set it for the year 2012. A few days into it as well so that people can post and make fun of anyone who thought it would happen. If it does happen this thread will get locked automatically from us all exploding.

I believe it because there was already another lunar eclipse last night. And we just had one last year. And I'm expecting another solar eclipse also.

if it does happen (Planet X) then at least a percentage of the human population will survive, like before when the Dinosaurs died out. And the lifes before the Dinosaurs.
Our country has built a Seed Bank at least, to let some plants survive. I do at least hope some other intelligent lives would rescue us before that though. Or just blow up the Planet heading this way. |

They gave countless facts and some objections. But the most disturbing is that the Mayan civilizations Calendar accuracy is uncanny. Its seems to end on December 21, 2012 of the winter solstice. Proclaimed the great calamity. They used reference to the Chinese I Ching and Murlen(the real one) also Oracles of ancient Greece state the same as the calendar. With alot great track records. I`ve begun to ponder if this fate is true. Its evidence is undeniable. They state that a war will break out in all the world ( has happend). Massive nuclear warfare will riddle the planet. Oh yea and plagues will take 1/4 of the population. These are only proficiencies that they gave. But the most devastating is the earth shifting its poles. This detestation can annihilate all the inhabitants of earth. Its considered a fact that it has happened before. Here are some sites baring the information. The first link is about the mayans and the most important to view. http://www.diagnosis2012.co.uk/5thsun.htm http://www.apocalypse2012.com/news/show/91 http://www.futurehi.net/archives/000747.html http://www.history.com/shows.do?action=detail&episodeId=214250 - This is an insight in to the theory. http://survive2012.com/geryl1.php -The reason I`m made this thread. http://www.valdostamuseum.org/hamsmith/2012.html Referring to I Ching Hexagram http://www.halexandria.org/dward415.htm Normally I dont ever consider these sort of ideas. But I wish to hear your opinions. About the Mayans... I've also heard that they believe that time runs in a cycle. So 2012 isn't the end of Earth, period. Just the end of the world "as we know it". Kind of like reaching the end of a song track on a music player when you have it set to "replay", it'll just go back to the beginning of the song. "end of the world as we know it" could mean we get in contact with other intelligent species (aliens). Evil or Good who knows, at least there's reports of discovery of "Planet X" from 50 billion (something) away from us in 1982, they thought it was standing still, but they cant find it again. I saw a documentary also about it now being 7 billion (something, not knowing the english word for it) away and moving closer.. what if that is just a spaceship or something? ok just my hope / dream / speculations |

It does not mean the end of the world. It just means there will be a great change on December 21, 2012, and it will probably be something like severe climate change, or a meteor striking the earth, wiping out several species(maybe humans as well).

I'm sorry, but it's completely impossible for the world to end in one year. Also, the scientist have projected that a meteor won't come close to hitting us until the 2020's

from an article i read on myspace
The Mayan Calendars comprehension of time, seasons, and cycles has proven itself to be vast and sophisticated. The Maya understand 17 different calendars, some of them charting time accurately over a span of more than ten million years. The calendar that has steadily drawn global attention since 1987 is called the Tzolk'in or Cholq'ij. Devised ages ago and based on the cycle of the Pleiades, it is still held as sacred. With the indigenous calendars, native people have kept track of important turning points in history. For example, the day keepers who study the calendars identified an important day in the year One Reed, Ce Acatal, as it was called by the Mexicans. That was the day when an important ancestor was prophesied to return, "coming like a butterfly." In the western calendar, the One Reed date correlates to Easter Sunday, April 21, 1519 the day that Hernando Cortez and his fleet of 11 Spanish galleons arrived from the East at what is today called Vera Cruz, Mexico. When the Spanish ships came toward shore, native people were waiting and watching to see how it would go. The billowing sails of the ships did indeed remind the scouts of butterflies skimming the ocean surface. In this manner was a new era initiated, an era they had anticipated through their calendars. The Maya termed the new era the Nine Bolomtikus, or nine Hells of 52 years each. As the nine cycles unfolded, land and freedom were taken from the native people. Disease and disrespect dominated. What began with the arrival of Cortez, lasted until August 16, 1987 - a date many people recall as Harmonic Convergence. Millions of people took advantage of that date to make ceremony in sacred sites, praying for a smooth transition to a new era, the World of the Fifth Sun. From that 1987 date until now, Mr. Barrios says, we have been in a time when the right arm of the materialistic world is disappearing, slowly but inexorably. We are at the cusp of the era when peace begins, and people live in harmony with Mother Earth. We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time in-between, the time of transition. As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth changes. All this, Mr. Barrios says, was foreseen via the simple, spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars. "It will change," Mr. Barrios observes. "Everything will change." He said Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from and signified by the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy. i view this whole 2012 thing the same way i view other "end of the world myths." oddly, those myths never prophecize the end of the world, only a great change that leads to a time of unrivaled peace and abundance. Armageddon is a great battle which in the end takes us to 1000 years of peace. Ragnarok is a great battle that destroys everything in yggdrasil (the universe, essentially) but from the ashes a new world of abundance is made for the last humans and gods to repopulate Kali Yuga (hindu maybe?) is the "dark" times, or times of strife and discord, and the end is the darkest part, but then the cycle restarts and we go back to Satya Yuga, a time free of any unhappiness. zoroastrianism traditions say that a great battle will occur between their lord "Saoshyant" and the destructive will of god named "Angra Mainyu." when the battle ends, the wicked suffer for 3 days and are then led to paradise with all the righteous. i believe the same for this 2012 theory, if its real at all. |

You should know, nothing lasts, why should the human race? Some natural event over the I-don't-know-how-long timeline has got to be big enough to wipe us all out, or some motherfucker with alot of millitary power has got to build a big weapon and accidentally blow the planet up to shit-sized fragments. Who knows? Maybe the fucking machines take over.
Religions simply stated the inevitable. Smart prediction, not a psychic premonition. |
