Recently I watched a documentary on research about a inevitable apocalypse in 2012. Apparently this has been rumored to be predicted for at least a millennia. They gave countless facts and some objections. But the most disturbing is that the Mayan civilizations Calendar accuracy is uncanny. Its seems to end on December 21, 2012 of the winter solstice. Proclaimed the great calamity. They used reference to the Chinese I Ching and Murlen(the real one) also Oracles of ancient Greece state the same as the calendar. With alot great track records.

I`ve begun to ponder if this fate is true. Its evidence is undeniable. They state that a war will break out in all the world ( has happend). Massive nuclear warfare will riddle the planet. Oh yea and plagues will take 1/4 of the population. These are only proficiencies that they gave. But the most devastating is the earth shifting its poles. This detestation can annihilate all the inhabitants of earth. Its considered a fact that it has happened before.

Here are some sites baring the information. The first link is about the mayans and the most important to view.

from an article i read on myspace

The Mayan Calendars comprehension of time, seasons, and cycles has proven itself to be vast and sophisticated. The Maya understand 17 different calendars, some of them charting time accurately over
a span of more than ten million years. The calendar that has steadily drawn global attention since 1987 is
called the Tzolk'in or Cholq'ij. Devised ages ago and based on the cycle of the Pleiades, it is still held
as sacred. With the indigenous calendars, native people have kept track of important turning points in
history. For example, the day keepers who study the calendars identified an important day in the year One
Reed, Ce Acatal, as it was called by the Mexicans. That was the day when an important ancestor was
prophesied to return, "coming like a butterfly." In the western calendar, the One Reed date correlates to
Easter Sunday, April 21, 1519 the day that Hernando Cortez and his fleet of 11 Spanish galleons arrived
from the East at what is today called Vera Cruz, Mexico.

When the Spanish ships came toward shore, native people were waiting and watching to see how it would
go. The billowing sails of the ships did indeed remind the scouts of butterflies skimming the ocean surface.

In this manner was a new era initiated, an era they had anticipated through their calendars. The Maya
termed the new era the Nine Bolomtikus, or nine Hells of 52 years each. As the nine cycles unfolded, land
and freedom were taken from the native people. Disease and disrespect dominated. What began with the arrival
of Cortez, lasted until August 16, 1987 - a date many people recall as Harmonic Convergence. Millions of
people took advantage of that date to make ceremony in sacred sites, praying for a smooth transition to a new
era, the World of the Fifth Sun.
From that 1987 date until now, Mr. Barrios says, we have been in a time when the right arm of the
materialistic world is disappearing, slowly but inexorably. We are at the cusp of the era when peace
begins, and people live in harmony with Mother Earth. We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but
we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time in-between, the time of transition.

As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction,
social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth changes. All this, Mr. Barrios says, was foreseen via the
simple, spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars. "It will change," Mr. Barrios observes. "Everything will
change." He said Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the
Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from and signified by the solar meridian crossing the
galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy
.

i view this whole 2012 thing the same way i view other "end of the world myths." oddly, those myths never prophecize the end of the world, only a great change that leads to a time of unrivaled peace and abundance.

Armageddon is a great battle which in the end takes us to 1000 years of peace.

Ragnarok is a great battle that destroys everything in yggdrasil (the universe, essentially) but from the ashes a new world of abundance is made for the last humans and gods to repopulate

Kali Yuga (hindu maybe?) is the "dark" times, or times of strife and discord, and the end is the darkest part, but then the cycle restarts and we go back to Satya Yuga, a time free of any unhappiness.

zoroastrianism traditions say that a great battle will occur between their lord "Saoshyant" and the destructive will of god named "Angra Mainyu." when the battle ends, the wicked suffer for 3 days and are then led to paradise with all the righteous.

i believe the same for this 2012 theory, if its real at all.

I definitely agree, complete and utter destruction seems unrealistic. With melancholy comes new breakthroughs and rebirths in many cases.

on the news a couple weeks ago there was this thing saying that the internet is running out of space. I personally didn't believe it but he said that if everyone in the world were to do a download at the same time today that everyone would lag or it would take an extended amount of time....or something. Anyways he predicts that the internet would come to a giant crash around 2012. That year stuck with me and i still have doubts on the validity of it. What do u think?

Global Warming people ( -.- ). By the year 2010, all the world's water would have risen about 4 inches or so. By year 2020, it would have risen to about 2 to 3 feet or more. Well that's what Al Gore said (o.0"). And it wouldn't surprise me if a war would unfold. A lot of powerful nations are getting tensed already. The U.S is basically pissing Korea off with their Nuclear intervention, and Korea is well known to be a very proud nation. China is having all these accusations, Olympic' boycotts, they support illegal movements, Darfur etc. U.S with the ongoing war with Iraq. Iraq and Iran having a war. Palestine and Israel STILL having a war. Basically if even just one major controversy would internationally unfold, then we're truly fucked. The plagues are predictable. People are so screwed up with their own selfishness that they don;t even give a shit about what is happening to the planet that basically let them survive. GLOBAL WARMING. That's the cause. And there are speculations about it, how it is only natural. And I do agree that it's only natural for the melting caps and all that, but the speed of it is what bothers me. We're basically hurrying our deaths and the process with how much CO2 we produce.

*Ahem*, at the current rate global warming is going, there will be an Ice Age in about 2700 years. The Sun has enough hydrogen to last another 6 Billion years, and the Ice caps aren't melting nearly as fast as its made out to be. Infact, in some spots its growing due to the increased moisture in the air caused by global warming. Your Great-Grandchildren x 300 will dislike you intensely.

But yes, its gonna be a big problem in the future if everyone doesn't stop gobbling up fossil fuels and burning trash and the like. But the Internet cannot "crash" because its only a highway to the servers that host the websites. 2012 is most likely going to end up like Y2K, so don't worry about it.

Plus, I'm a Naturalist so I don't believe in that Prophesy hocus-pocus.

someday earth will be destroyed by our mistakes. of course we can't be sure when this will happen. we can't predict it. people change, governments change, new weapons are being made. whether it will be a natural disaster from pollution or a human made one from a nuclear war for example someday everything and everyone
on earth will die. we can only live the present with our hearts. we mustn't be afraid of the future.

lol the mayans lived over a 1000yrs ago i think the reason it ends at 2012 cause they had to quit somewhere. As for the end of the world we have awhile... nukes or global warming either way people will always find a way to survive. Its in our nature.
