Aside from the Mayan calender, there are no other prophecies that point to December 21, 2012 aside from a few John Titor predictions that vaguely refer to the year. The 'galactic core' theory has its roots in New Age mysticism, and the theory that the 'Mother Galaxy' is preparing to transform the 'Mother Earth and Her Children' into 'Star Beings'. (That's the theory I heard on Dreamland, anyway.)

Astronomically, the only events of interest in 2012 will be a reversal of the sun's magnetic poles and an intense series of solar storms. There is little possibility the Mayan calendar corresponds with these events intentionally, as the Mayans would have had no method to measure the magnetic properties of the sun.

Quite frankly, the 2012 predictions are mere conspiracy theories and New Age hype centered around the Mayan calendar. There's really nothing to them besides that.

Yea well its clear to me you didnt even bother looking at the links I posted on the first page. *shame shame on you* first read discovering that a hell of alot of prophecies point to the year 2012. How bout you do some work and search them up.

[edit] please notice that the scientific and history communities dont wanna make hype about this. I`m pretty sure people are not tryna write books and make T.V. documentaries on this. Otherwise that a another million dollars down the drain. Meaning less funding for these communities.

[edit] Yet again let me state this is not all about the Mayan Calendar. Its about prophecies and other intel. So stop assuming the topics is ALL about that.

highly doubt that the end of the world is in 2012 just cause the mayans were too damn lazy to finish their calender

^^ I'm just summarizing what's implied on those links. I'm pretty sure not everyone will have the time to go over all of them. Besides, I'm doing other things: papers, the mod gabbly, and a ton of messages. I think I'm done with this thread.

Naa actually in one of the links it states they made the end of the calendar on the end of that day be cause the belief of an apocalypse. But as I said its only suggestive information you can believe it or not.

We're humans. We can adapt someway, somehow. But since we do not know yet how we actually experience the effects of said apocalypse, we can't really offer concrete ways how to "survive" it. Much leads to speculation at this time.

^^Honestly if you need me to elaborate then consider yourself doomed
But on a serious note if its a very rapid change then their is probaly no chance.
The only suggestion towards tsunamis is , build an arc for every damn animal and ride that shit out. After that you welcome to be savage and eat them all. Because even if we do chances are animals wont stand a chance. Not that their not just our intellectual unequal but their highly effected by environmental change.

OK, now for my real post instead of me just bitching because i couldn't type (i have a loud keyboard) at work.

I think that it's extremely interesting about the mayans... I saw a show on the Discovery channel that featured apocolytical ideas.
I was fascinated the entire show.

What, i think, interested me so much was that their accuracy was so tight.
The idea of a civilization that existed so many centuries ago could predict what the future could bring and did it with such accuracy. to me, that's astonishing.

In the show i watched, however, it didn't just talk about the mayans.. It talked about a few nostradamus predictions as well. Those I found intriguing, but there was quite a few of his predictions that were grossly incorrect.

There was one I found quite intriguing dealt with the pyramids. There was a shaft that if measured out in a certain measurement (i believe it was inches) it measured out great discoveries.
Example, it was a narrow shaft, that gradually increased it's size, as it progressed, however at the exact inch measurements of specific years the shaft would drastically cahnge size.
The birth of christ made the shaft large,
The industrial revolution made the shaft even larger etc etc.
but in the middle of what the archeologists deemed the middle ages, the shaft split. One leading up and larger and larger, the other leading down into a seemingly never ending pit.
There were a lot of shows similar to this one in 1999, when everyone was scared of the y2k, which I personally would have been MUCH more afraid of the new years for 665 into 666... But that's just me.
I;m sure these shows can be found on any sort of dicovery channel type of website. I"ll look and see if I can find the links... It was an intriguing show!

My question is, what the hell is gonna happen after 2012 rolls around and the world is still boring? I think the next big scare after that is 2017. It's a joke. And when it is actually serious, there isn't anything you can do. I refuse to waste any more time with this numerical hysteria.

It's two in the morning here but ill try to be coherent. We are starting to go into a warming phase (thats why people are scared of global warming fyi) and crops are starting to get better and better. This means that poorer countries are going to boom even more than they are in population. The last time this happened was the dark ages and just like then, a big nasty pluage is going to hit us (not if but when (if its not the man-made aids (read the article W.H.O. killed Africa))). If I were you people, I would worry more about not being in the third of the population likely to be purged and wind up in quarentine camps so the other two thirds don't catch your nasty cooties. As for mayans, it is about a 1 in 5638789 (think thats the right number, been a few years) they actually were the one prediction that got it right. Just so you know, there has been an apocolypse prediction for every year since 1943 (antichrist=nazi scurge) and till 2046 (meteor). I call it the doom century . They may not have even been predicting the end of the world, just the end of a cycle (read your own links :p) For the oracles, even a blind hog finds an acorn now and again so even if they called a few things, chances are... well slim. Plus, the greek oracles were on drugs most of the time... ok, all the time. Call me a cynic, but I take everything with a grain of salt ever since I heard about the Phillidelphia experiment (accidental teleportation using electric fields, they did a horrible cover up job.) and the following Maltak point confessions (Secret government lab stuff, all the scientists saw something that freaked them out to the point were the head genius in charge became an electrition in a small town for the rest of his life, the main test subject is probably going to write a book now that hes old and prison doesn't scare him as much).
All I'm saying is that there are much scarier things than the sun switching polarities.

If your that worried, buy a boat.

[edit] P.S. Dont trust any article that says "In my book..."

interesting topic, but weren't they thinking there was something happening when we hit the new millennium 7 years ago? hmm the idea of this happening, to me, seems to be awful if it really does happen, but i guess we'll die anyway (of age, sickness, violence etc.) let's just live and see what will happen that day

Seriously, How many times throughout history has some group of people "predicted" the apocalypse only for us to find out that they were all wrong. I've never believed in any theorized apocalypse. It's not something you can mathematically find out. When I see a big ass rock in the sky and the man on the news tells me that it's gonna obliterate the Earth, then I'll believe that the world is ending. You guys should watch Kino no Tabi episode 3 (Land of Prophecies). It's all about these kind of illogical theories.
