Sometimes I like to watch, and when asked I normally think on it and try to offer the best most detailed advice I can.

I usually ask if I noticed a change in behavior and offer my help. Normally they decline but when they accept, I help as much as I can. Listening is a powerful skill. Sometimes, people just need to voice out what they are feeling to move forward.

I stopped doing that, unless begged to help....

I've been asked to help before, on many occasions.

They ask, I tell them what I think and they generally do exactly what I TELL THEM NOT TO DO.
It wouldn't bother me much but then they get pissed off when everything goes sideways-to-hell, like I told them it would . . . AND I NEVER gloated about it. I never even "told them so," kind of stuff. HELL, I NEVER BRING UP THE SUBJECT.

Got tired of being penalized for being helpful....

It's pretty rare I have ever given advice or help to anyone unsolicited.

I'll hold a door or help someone up if they fall but much past that . . . not really.

I actually used to get taken advantaged of in the past. I was always that kind of open person that accepted everyone, baggage included. You just never want to judge others, you know? Sometimes people mistook that as a shoulder to lean on whenever they wanted. Not wanting to be cold to them, I eventually ended up extending some advice. Waiting up long hours with them until all their vents were heard.

Now I'm more assertive about how much of my involvement is with another's problems. It's been a very peaceful, healthy decision.

If it is carrying a package, helping someone by getting them coffee, or something like that then I will.

If it's loaning money, I won't do that anymore.

No, I just get dragged into that I have no part whatsoever in.

I go to my friends house, they bring something up that I had no idea of happened. An argument insinuates, I get asked which side is true.

Or.

My friends girlfriends send me angry messages about how they can't get ahold of my friend. Like hell if I know why you can't lol.

I've probably done that before but usually I don't get involved. These days even less.

What do I get out of it?

The satisfaction of being a good human being and knowing you have helped or changed the life of someone.

You don't need a reason to want to help people

Well I want a puppy

*gives puppy* your welcome! (:
