My husband surprised me with a Nintendo WiiU, and I honestly adore it! I have Mario Kart 8 on it and Donkey Kong 64. Kart has beautiful graphics, and the game pad feels so nice in my hand.

But it seems like it's easier to find affordable PS4 games than it is WiiU. I really want to bulk up my library but my local GameStop is light on WiiU games at the moment, so I'm turning my shopping to Amazon.

Any suggestions? Which Virtual Console games are the best?

Thought I'd mention, Best Buy is running a buy one get one 40% off sale on Wii U games right now (see link).

I just got a Wii U myself. I can recommend Splatoon and Super Smash Bros..The games that look the most promising to me are Yoshi's Woolly World, Super Mario Maker, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U, Super Mario 3D World, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

My son is getting one for Christmas from my in-laws (don't tell him )

He's getting the combo pack that includes Splatoon & Super Smash Bros. He's also getting Super Mario Maker from his uncle. All of those are play tested & proven to be great.

Others I've heard great things about - NES Remix, New Super Mario Bros U, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate,

I'm not sure what's on the Wii U virtual console yet - BUT if it has all the stuff the original Wii had, get yourself a copy of Pokemon Snap for the N64. Seriously. It still holds up.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is a new game but I love it so much. It's an RPG so it's best to also get games that is under a category that interests you. Xenoblade is also a game you can play online and offline for a long ass time. Most wii u games lack that because they are mostly based on online activity.

Splatoon, Smash, and Mario Kart are great for starters.

I heard Mario Maker is great so give any of these listed a shot and hopefully you'll enjoy!

So I understand the feeling with Wii U library being quite empty. It really depends what you like but I am hearing GREAT things about Xenoblade Chronicles X, also there is The Legend of Zelda: HD Windwaker, and upcoming Legend of Zelda: HD Twilight Princess, if you really like the Zelda universe like I do, and enjoy the bit of the dynasty warriors/samurai warriors kind of gameplay, you will be in for a treat for Hyrule Warriors. Then we have great group play and just fun games overall: Super Smash Bros, Splatoon. If you want bit of a shooter with a bit of horror elements, I heard Zombie U was pretty decent.

As for Virtual Console games, I am currently eyeing Fire Emblem, and I also purchased Earthbound which is suppose to be a pretty good classic.

If you want to get some good Wii games for the Wii U, I really suggest Pandora's Tower, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, The Last Story, and Xenoblade Chronicles.

Xenoblade Chronicles X. Plus it has the added bonus of being a game that will probably never lose its value. So you'll be able to sell it for what you paid for it.

I'm one of the biggest Nintendo fans around and have tons of games. The Wii U is one of my top favorite systems, and I'm even typing this from the Wii U's Internet Browser. I can give you a lot of information about games and whatnot if you'd like, but I tend to ramble on, so if you'd like my help or input, it might be better for us to communicate through the PM service here, as I don't want to make a post so long it breaks the forums and such. I'm also always looking for people to play with, so feel free to send me a Friend Request via Miiverse. My NNID is Forte-sama. So if you'd like my help or input, feel free to send me a PM here.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water if you're into horror. It is only available digitally if you're in the US, though... and needs 15GB to download.

Nice helpful thread.

Was just thinking how under utilized my Wii U is. I got it two years ago and have a grand total of... five games. Ugh.
