Undertale's a good game. I'm not sure I'd say it's the "best game ever" since in a lot of ways it's like a giant homage to RPGs of yore like Earthbound, but it is still very enjoyable.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'd say the best game ever is.. There's just too many contenders really.

I have no idea what the hell it is and I'm not interested in playing it. Congrats to it for winning a... month long poll or whatever.

A really really great game, yes. Best game ever? Not even close.

Its a good game, just not the best. I guess no one recalled MGV, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Bloodborne, or Rainbow Siege.... Honestly I like helping out smaller games but people really like much simpler games now-a-days then

There doesn't exist such a game and never will.

And the problem with video games is that all these "best games of all time" lists are very, very fickle. Look at this gallery: https://imgur.com/a/nApPR

I bet that most people here have never even heard of most of the games on those early lists. But consider that in 1994 Doom holds the number one spot, in 1998 it's 34th, in 2005 it's 2nd, and in 2010 it's at 27 (as Doom II). The 2010 list features barely anything from the 1994 list.

On one hand this is understandable because of how much video games are tied to technology in a way that movies, music and books aren't, but on the other hand there's also a lack of institutional memory and expertise. Also a lack of seriousness, as game academics, critics and journalists are nothing but worthless cretins.

Even if Undertale is popular now, I think in ten years it'll be a cult classic at best.

i think undertale is a super amazing game! but the gamefaqs poll was a joke to begin with, so i didn't take it winning super seriously!! even though i was hella excited!

it's a wonderful game, and deserves the recognition!

Undertale is pretty amazing and the emotions just hit you like a wave. You laugh so hard and you cry all at the same time. I would say it pulled a minecraft for its level of success and sales.

By the way *fuck that flower*. Yes I said it.

I think we should all pretty much ignore gamefaqs polls since the L-block from tetris once won it's "best character ever" poll.

Having a "best game ever" award just sounds incredibly dumb, honestly.

Whatever. GameFAQs is super salty because nostalgia. FF7 and Melee are trash. Ocarina is still pretty enjoyable but I do think Undertale is better than it.

It's a really freaking good game, and it's probably my favorite... But I honestly can't think of any game that's the "best game ever".

I didn't think it was that fun. The comedy was great but the actual game play was boring.
