This would be a big deal why?

Honestly, to many people that are "trans" it's a big deal to "come out". Some people even get disowned by people they assumed were their "friends and family".

I know that to many "progressive individuals" this shouldn't be a "deal" at all, but in many places "it simply doesn't work". I know what you think, it shouldn't be a deal. But it is, and that's reality.

I know. I just find it silly this matters. From both sides really. The side that glorifies it as well as the side that is ignorant about it. As someone who is brutally honest to a fault, it wouldn't change my opinion on the subject, regardless of them being my best friend or not. What gets me is when people change their entire views of something/someone based on a menial issue. Seems rather pathetic.

Sigh, in a perfect world...

We can all wish for "a perfect world", but that doesn't exist. I say, let's just be good compatriots towards all.

If we were friends before I found out ideally we'd still be friends afterwards. My only frustration with the situation would be why they didn't feel comfortable mentioning it to me sooner.

I only have one trans friend and I was already friends with them well before they started transitioning. I'd like to think it wouldn't really matter to me though. It's not like I look at someone and go "OH THAT'S A BOY. I WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH THEM". I don't really care how someone identifies as long as we vibe.

If I'm already friends with them, nothing would change. They're probably fine with the way I'm already treating them. With a new friend it's going to start with some questions if I'm brave enough, after that back to normal. Usually I google things I'm not familiar with so yes, I would end up learning more about the topic.

In the end it's all fine. I'm fine with a lot of things and this is easily one of the least harmful ones.

Not sure, it'll have to happen before I can pass judgement.

In theory yes nothing would change, however if the person has a massive personality/character change due to it then I would not be so sure.

You can't fight the brainwashing. You can't.

You can always fight it. However how successful it is can be debatable since they typically brainwash them emotionally.
