I feel I'd have been all right with it had we been raised in such a relationship from a young age, but as someone who is 19 years old and has a blood-related brother, anyone calling me brother or sister who isn't blood-related would just feel weird. Though if it absolutely came down to it I guess I wouldn't care too much. Calling each other brother doesn't come up too much anyway, we'll be referring to each other by our regular names for the most part.

Sometimes non-blood relatives become family.

It's pretty common in my church, a lot of people go around calling each other brothers and sisters in Christ. So no it wouldn't bother me at all.

I have had a few girls call me brother, usually cause I was older and looked out for them and they never had siblings.

The one that really got me, she started calling me dad/father, because I helped her through some emotional stuff and what have you, and she finally said I did more for her in the short time we have known each other, then her own biological father, who ran out on her and her mother. She never had a father figure, and said I was a male figure for her to look up to.

That gave me feels, I can tell you.
