I didn't say "with" I meant "had" As in they had, or used one recently. Then went back, and tried to use the 48 hour guest passes after the gifted one month ran out. I'm just trying to really analyze the problem. Yes, we've established that a lot of people have this problem, but has anybody who never had a paid sub or even had premium for one month, that relies completely on the 48 hour passes, reported the same problem? I see people saying they have the problem, but what was the status of their accounts prior to trying to use the 48 hour guest pass?

Did they use a one month, Were they premium at all in any type or form, prior to encountering this bug?
Or were they relying completely on the 48 hour passes?

Narrowing it down, would help the tech end recreate the problem in script, and code and isolate the glitch or bug.

Looking at it from several areas and theories can actually help folks on the back end, squash a bug.
Then again, I'm a avid gamer and spend a LOT of time on gamer forums and it's the norm to think about the state and status of all things to help the investigation process to solve such problems.

It's really all about asking the right questions.

I guess, but I've looked at a lot of threads and posts. Where people just say they have the problem, and not weather they previously used a premium gift or subscription, or only used 48 hour passes. Then there are others who are upset and just demand an instant fix.

I guess the follow up questions really and honestly are:
Has anybody tested a new account, That hasn't used either?
I know it may seem like it is universal and wide spread, and perhaps I'm being astute or pragmatic here, but asking these questions I'd think would be a good idea. Instead of just insisting it's as widespread as everyone seems to think? I guess, I'm just used to asking such questions, out of habit to make people think, and or consider the possibility. I'm not saying I'm right, and that everyone is wrong, far from it. I'm just trying to provide as much information for tech folks on the back end to look at.

Which in my case, I never encountered the problem, until -after- I had used a one month gift, which was given to me, on Nov 23rd, and expired on Dec 23rd.
I did not try to use the extra 48 hour pass that was also sent to me, until Jan 2'nd because I was busy with family, and holiday.

So therefor logically to me, I would report as much information as possible, on the status of my account. Outlining exactly what was done with my account, in the hopes that perhaps, the tech end might be able to recreate the glitch or bug, and squash it. In my mind, I see said information hopefully being helpful to those that run, and code the site.

That's all.

Oh and to add: I also recently tried the /redeem method and that too did not work for me. ^^

I'm having the same problem as most of you guys. When I try to redeem my guest pass it shows me an error saying "we could not process blah blah blah*. Could you please fix this?

Also I've never activated a premium membership before, this is my first time.

man ive been reading these posts thinking how the hell is this not fixed? I have a subscription but not to have this option is a bummer. I guess CR got tired of all the freeloaders

If that really was the case, they'd just tell us upfront rather than silently remove it and display an error message. My brother just got a new phone on my account and Final Fantasy XIV is currently draining my money, so I'm unable to renew my subscription on Crunchyroll without starving myself.

Your first mistake was paying anything to your brother. Family love is great n all but luxury items should be spent by your own money and not others!

I've had my premium membership active since 2014. A month ago I stopped my auto renweal cause I'm flat broke. I thought I might be able to redeem a guest pass or 2, since so many people have used mine. Just to pass the time until I could afford to renew my membership

Sucks the guest passes aren't working...

To KitzelMuse: I have never redeemed any one month trial or gift membership. I have only relied on the 48 hours guest passes and have redeemed about a couple a month (don't have a lot of time to watch anime) either from friends or from guest pass codes that were posted by other generous members, and I have started redeemed them a few months ago. I do buy manga and anime merch and only my absolute favourite anime...

I'm not considering paying for a subscription on CR unless it runs perfectly smooth. In order for me to play things smoothly I have to run it at the 480P resolution (and it can still lag during peak hours). Even 720P lags like hell. In other words even when I'm using a guest pass I don't play it at 1080P but instead I still play it at 480P because I don't want any lagging.

I don't mind watching ads once in a while, but just last week I watched a couple episodes of Free! with ads (because guest pass system is down) and it showed me the same alcohol ad probably 20+ times (it's shown thrice each time I hit an ads point). I wanted to rewind and read the seiyuu list and instead of rewinding properly it kept showing me the alcohol ads and I watched them like 6 times before I could finally rewatch the credits. Bored the hell outta me and I swear I'll never buy that alcohol (well, I don't drink alcohol to begin with so no amount of ads would convince me). Couldn't CR at least show me different ads instead of the same bloody ad over and over and over and over and over and over and over again?! I thought the whole point of ads is to get me watch them and get interested in buying something from the advertisers? What's the point of showing me the same bloody ads for the two Free! episodes I watched?!

Kay, now it's starting to look a lot more like a genuine swap and switch. Between the 48 hour guest passes and the holiday upgrades that are currently in place. Thanks for those that actually understood my reasoning behind why I was asking those questions.

Judging by other posts, the problem didn't really become noticed till half way through December when the holiday crunch hit. I myself was unaware till January because I was busy for the holiday. This however, actually helps settle the point, that it has zero to do with people using the passes too much, or not at all, or were using the passes and then used a paid sub / gift that expired. I also note even brand new accounts are also effected.

I just wanted to to test and ask questions to make sure that was actually the case. Hopefully, the problem will be fixed. Or in the case of it not being fixed, those in control of the site actually come clean and make an official status report about the issue, and what actually happened and if they have plans of reinstating said passes or not.

That was my reasoning too, until I found out the phone came in a bundle with a few year's worth of free cable and Internet. Since my brother rarely watches TV or surf the Internet, I had technically gotten the better part of the deal. I'm just holding out until he manages to find a job so I can renew my subscription. Kinda sucks when you're living alone with a younger sibling.

Oh, it seems to be fixed now. I just randomly tried one of the guest passes my friend gave me and it activated. The sad part is I actually don't have time to watch anything but a couple episodes these two days because of work. Anyhow, hopefully it stays "fixed" so that I can use my friend's codes over the weekend Thanks CR.
