Honestly surprised magical didn't make this one.

Alpha and Beta are an oversimplification though. Any dumbass with Paint can make an image about it.

People take the lead on some things and follow on others. Everyone is a mix of 'alpha' and 'beta' with their common connotations. Just like rational and irrational or emotional and unemotional. You can gain the label from people when you demonstrate too much of it's characteristic, but it's not a working 0 or 100% definition.

Some take the lead and compete more often than others, but it does not mean they do on all things or vice versa.

^^^ Exactly.

My definitions of "alpha" and "beta" differ. Not that it matters, though. Pack dynamics don't apply well to our species, so the insistence of trying to make it work is about as faulty as seriously applying goldfish social dynamics to meerkats. Somewhat off-topic; I will say that completely overlooking income is foolhardy, considering that providing for potential children is pretty damned important.

Completely overlooking income is foolhardy but i don't think it should stop someone from love.

That being said it's only logical to have kids if you have the income.

I believe that the definition of 'beta' is more alike to that of a cuck than a follower/non-leader, to be used in a much more derogatory fashion (at least in 4chan's general opinion). I agree with this whole Alpha/Beta thing being a heaping pile of horseshit though.

Also, I'm gonna go ahead and grab Psi male.

It's completely fine when talking about the hierarchal structure of wolves, hyenas and similar social wild animals. People who try to apply such concepts to humans probably aren't in touch with reality.

I think theres times to be an alpha and times to be a beta.In my opinion real alphas evaluate situations and decide what the best approach is to that situation. Also real alphas choose there mates in a very careful way.Look for the strongest female that they are compatible with and the happiest with.Imo.The way the world describes as an alpha male is totally incorrect. They say that the stupdiest once is the alpha males.Wrong.The smartest once are.

I think it boils down to interpretation.
I've heard putin being described as arrogant and having massive balls. Yet I still see him as a coward that would use everyone else as a human shield. Assassinating his political competition doesn't sound like the action of a confidant or even competent leader.

And nice guys are usually seen as doormats, but when I do things for other people I have my own agenda. I know I'm not that nice.

Usually when I see the term "alpha" it's on a body building forum where alpha = good and words become the bleating of sheep.

The beta male is actually the second most powerful wolf of the pack behind the alpha, and the one most likely to take over next. I don't even know if people know what they're talking about when they mention alpha and beta males.

I do understand the meaning, though, despite the inaccurate terminology. Context is enough.

It's basically a crappy way of telling guys that they need to be more decisive and bold. You don't have to be a douche to be an alpha. You just need to be manly and reliable. Being manly means shouldering the burdens others are unable to, thinking things through and making good choices so people can rely on you, being trustworthy and meaning what you say. You're hardly an alpha, after all, if everyone around you hates your guts and doesn't want to be around you. That's just stupidity and immaturity, not manliness. If you want to lead people, you can't alienate them. It's easy to be a jerk. Even a quiet introvert like me can do it. It's much harder to actually get people to acknowledge you as their leader.

Sometimes, you do need someone decisive. If nobody steps up, I do it. I don't like situations where everyone is wasting everyone else's time by letting them choose and nobody knows where to go or what to do.

"Where should we go?"
"I dunno, you choose!"
"I chose last time, you can choose."
"But I don't know, can we go there?"
"But we went there last time."
"You can choose, I don't care."
