To be honest, reactions from people like Ranwolf are the main reason I opted to not be one.

Also, giving up your right to informed consent is kind of unsettling to me. If my heart were to give out and I died, sure I have no big issues with donating my organs (aside of course for being able to thumb my dead nose at people who act like dicks about it ). However in the case of "brain death" there is not only some room for error (people do sometimes come back from that diagnosis on rare occassions), but there are some studies that say that the higher functions of your brain may actually be working to a certain extent because in depth brain scans are not a part of standard testing.

So if I were brain dead, I would prefer that a family member have control over my fate because they would be able to in essence "negotiate a better deal" for me in regards to testing to see how alive I truly am before making any decisions on the fate of my organs.

In my opinion mate if it takes a couple million dollars of medical equipment to keep basic metabolic functions going you ain't alive. You're nothing more then a slab of meat , whatever made you well you is long gone. And I was raised to never be the selfish type that play with people's hopes and emotions in some vain hope of coming back from the dead.

That's the real problem with most of you civilian types. You are always thinking about yourselves and not others.

Thread cleaned up a little, posts may appear out of order because of this, my apologies for that.

On-Topic,
Yes, I am a donor, my body won't be using the organs anymore once I die so if they still work and can comfortably extend the life of another, then by all means go ahead and use them.
The rest of my remains can be placed in the oven and its ashes used to feed plants.

I want my organs in little jars next to my body.
I'll have a little sign saying "you can't have this"

Sure am. I won't need the stuff anymore and don't want a funeral, because I want anything that can be used to be used, and anything that can't be used should be studied or used for training future doctors, nurses, dentists - well, unless something weird killed me, then I hope they study that instead!

Yes, I don't need my organs once I'm dead. Someone else who needs them may have them so they may live a long and healthy life~

I think Ranwolf is like a second Hitler or something lol, the way he thinks people should give up parts of their body like that. A shame I couldn't see the reply he gave me because I now see he is banned because of it. I'm done adding to the fire now I just wanted to point that out.

Donating my body to local university for medical education. They slice you up put you in jars and in a few years they bury the remains and the medical students attend. So my funeral will be attended by a bunch of doctors and they pay for the burial.

I'm an organ donor. It's a good feeling to know that some old, dusty organ that no one uses will go to a good home. Like a church.

No, but it doesn't mean that I don't want to. It's just that there's no reason for me to donate organs atm.

Yeah. If I die, might as well use my organs to save someone else instead of letting the worms chow on them.

this thread is a magnet for the holier-than-thou type of persons.
agreed with @Markest1. whether someone choose to donate their organs or not is up to them.
let's not turn this into a "I'm better than you" type of thread, as someone here (you know who you are) is trying to make.

edit: with advancement in technology and 3d-printing, questions like this might become a thing of the past. remember also how they were able to use pig's (the actual animal) retina to help someone recover their eyesight.

I haven't had the guts to sign for it yet (not sure why it scares me that much), but I seriously began considering it for the same reason lol.
