The countdown website for the "Next Generation" of the Naruto franchise ended on Saturday to announce a new manga in the franchise. Mikio Ikemoto, who worked as an assistant under original manga creator Masashi Kishimoto on Naruto, is drawing the new manga. Kishimoto will supervise the manga, and Ukyō Kodachi (Naruto - Gaara Hiden: Sajingensō novel, Boruto -Naruto the Movie- screenplay cooperation) will write the manga's script. The new manga will focus on Boruto.

The new manga will be titled Boruto and it will run in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in spring 2016 for one month.

Is it just me or does Boruto's face look kinda weird in that picture?? Maybe it's not so obvious at that size, but when I saw the larger version of the image I couldn't not laugh a bit at it... Only Boruto's face though, the rest looks fine. Anyway, I'm not that interested in the new generation of Naruto, but I read Gaiden since it was in the Viz Shonen Jump, and I'll read this for the same reason. Gaiden wasn't as terrible as I expected it to be, so hopefully this won't be so bad either.

I can't help but wonder if this manga is monthly to fill in the space from the monthly breaks that World Trigger takes...

To be quite honest, I have a hard time believing Kishimoto made that picture. To my eye, neither the inking nor the coloring are up to standard. Just compare the last chapter of Naruto to this poster and you'll see what I mean. Even many of his early color pages just have a higher quality than this picture. Look closely and you'll notice that all the facial models are slightly off as well, not just Boruto's. The work overall just isn't as confident as one would expect.

With all that being said, I'm thinking it was Mikio Ikimoto who drew it. It has all the makings of an assistant, someone who is comfortable drawing in the boss' style, but like with any artist, can't quite copy it

I'll probably read this, but who can they fight? Naruto already defeated the mother of all chakra (w/ Sasuke and Sakura), so who will be an opponent worthy of attention. Personally, I'd like to see more other the hidden villages in their world, as well as some actual missions that a ninja would do. Maybe we can also see the effects of guns on the ninja world (since the movie already had the jitsu arm things).

Kishimoto isn't drawing or writing the manga, it's who you said, Mikio Ikimoto, who is drawing the art. Kishimoto is only supervising.
