I'm seeing around 5 new pickups along with continuing on Heavy Objects, Snow White and MSG before CR even throws their titles up besides Gate returning.

Not gonna lie, their line up is pretty legit. Was hoping CR would get either Haruchika or Boku Machi but it seems Funi beat them to the punch on both. Even Dagashi Kashi But there are still some good titles out there that I hope will get picked up and not become exclusives to other sites.

So, what it CR getting then? What's their lineup??

I'm not expecting CR to get rolling with their lineup until after Christmas, and probably closer to New Year's Day.

We do know CR will be getting Erased (which Funimation also has), due to an earlier announcement by Aniplex.

Kiznaiver was also announced, but at this point we don't have any confirmation it is a winter title.

One advantage Funimation has in making early announcements is that they don't have to worry about negotiating for additional regions as CR does. As in the past, you'll often see simulcast times and dates coming much later, and sometimes only at the last minute, and late starts aren't unusual.

Ohhhhh nooooo, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash was one of 3 series I was hoping Cr would air :/ But anyways I have a feeling Macross Delta will be added to Funi's line up usually all Kawamori's works are always left in Funi's hands

Quoting this part but it's very much impossible for Kiznavier to be a Winter title at this point because we are getting more cast update before the animated PV which is sometimes during the period when Winter begins. (in mid-January)

As for the titles,
I don't really know how I feel about this until I see the majority of CR's titles announced.

I was super bummed to see that too. I found the art style very intriguing and I don't want to see Funimation ruin the colors. Hopefully CR or Daisuki can pick it up as well.

Wait FT itself is getting a broadcast dub? Or just FT Zero? Cause with the way it's worded they make it sound like it's the former...But I'm too pessimistic to believe it.

Unless you made a blood sacrifice to Cthulhu or some such in the recent past, Macross Delta ain't happening. Harmony Gold still exists.

Whoa whoa. Durarara. Doesn't Aniplex dub it? I thought Funimation doesn't get anything that they aren't going to dub. Aniplex gives Durarara to CR since they're just a streaming service, but Funi??

EDIT: So it seems like Funi is now including shared streaming like CR. Now that I think about it, they got Gundam which was a Daisuki title and they got Asterisk which was a Aniplex title this season. So this actually makes sense.

Though I'm just wondering why Aniplex would allow this since they're direct competition in physical distribution, but this must benefit both of them since Aniplex gets to have more people view it and they probably get some money from it, and Funi can get more potential subscribers by having it on there.

I have watched anime a long time . I first started watching anime on the Anime Network on Demand before Funimation started .and the website grew more popular And there used to be a lot of Aniplex shows on Funimation.

IDK where you thought all Funimation shows were dub . There always were sub only and that maybe was easier for the property owner to have it available in the US .

Of anything especially this season / 2015 they more dubs and faster than before ! If you look ony 10 / 17 shows are dub !

I was always under the impression that Funimation wouldn't grab a show unless they would dub it. But I guess this isn't a new thing they're doing from what you're telling me, so thanks for clarifying.

You're actually semi-correct. Historically, they wouldn't license series unless they were considering releasing it on physical media, and almost every series they release on physical media is dubbed (I think Oniai was the only exception to that, but I might have missed others). However, in the post simulcast era, they've licensed a number of shows that never got physical releases and were never dubbed. If they had received a DVD/BD release, they most likely would have been dubbed, but they weren't.

That said, as you already discovered, they have been doing partner licensing arrangements with Pony Canyon and Aniplex in the last couple seasons, so clearly some changes to their business strategy have occurred of late. Most likely, streaming has become a bigger part of their business, so they're expanding their offerings to keep competitive with CR on the non-exclusive titles.

I know Buddy Complex was another of those exceptions. They've also announced they will finally be releasing on physical media, but subtitled only.

Performing a quick search, it appears there was another one I missed:

The lesson to be learned here is that while the odds are still heavily in one's favor, it can't be taken as a given that a Funimation home video release will have a dub.

I see I see. I don't know why I never paid attention to that before now basically. It'd make sense to do that to stay competitive with CR, and last winter when they announced their new streaming subscriptions and plans, they said they took a page out of CR's book with the money distribution being split up by the amount of views/hits something gets (Spotify does the same). So for the amount of hits a Aniplex title gets they probably give a decent share to them and Aniplex likes that since they'd be getting money from CR, Funi, and Hulu. It's a win-win for both companies.
