So this year is almost over and 2016 is upon us soon.

Now I'm curious.

What do people think of this year? I have to admit that the year started off weak with a mediocre Winter season (not counting the 2 cour shows). It did gave us Death Parade, Assassination Classroom, and Maria the Virgin Witch that I was satisfied with. However, Spring gave us series like Kekkai Sensen, Shokugeki no Souma, Arslan Senki, among others.

Summer's monster harem (Monster Musume) has been one of my favorite harem series in years.
There was also Rokka no Yuusha which deconstructed the usual fantasy/adventure trope. GATE was a pretty fun ride too and we still got another season next year.

Fall has shows like Owarimonogatari, Gundam Iron Blood Orphans, and the highly popular One Punch Man. So yeah, I think this year turned out to be alright. There were some shows that were also disappointing as well of course (Charlotte, Shinmai Maou no Testament Burst, Denpa Kyoushi, Comet Lucifer, etc). If we count 2 cours from Winter, Parasyte, Akatsuki no Yona, and Nanatsu no Taizai were also pretty enjoyable.

In terms of shows like Non Non Biyori, Is The Order a Rabbit, Kiniro Mosaic, and School Live, my moe fix was pretty well satisfied. A couple of other shows I'm definitely missing.

Also, Fate Stay Illya, though I'm only on Season 1 at this moment.

Ah yes, I forgot Non Non Biyori Repeat, one of the best slice of life shows I've seen this year.

I think the good outweighed the bad. Every season gave me at least 2-3 shows I would and could gladly go back and watch again... except Plastic Memories. As much as I loved it, I can't do feels.

I think the overall "best" show of the year was Goku Gurashi.

I'm guessing you thought I would say GATE. There is a difference between best and favorite.

Overall I was very happy with this year. This was my first year as part of the CR community and I feel lucky that we had so many series to talk about.

I may expand upon this post at a later time. Still waking up and drinking my coffee.

With Winter, I really did enjoy Kancolle and Gourmet Girl Graffiti. Then again, those are the only two I watched. Kancolle was really fun and Gourmet Girl was very inspiring for cooking. I think it was the summer season that really picked up for me, with Wooser being in it, as well Classroom Crisis, that was one awesome show to see every week. I did try to enjoy Dragon ball super, but the animation was just awful. Q Transformers was a cute little parody. I really did love Actually I am. And finally, I was one of the many caught up in the Monster Musume wave. But with the summer being filled with great shows I really did enjoy, the Fall 2015 line, it did feel a bit lacking, granted I enjoyed Comet Lucifer, had no idea that was a mech anime. Heavy Object is a really fun show to watch. We have Gundam, and that is always a win in my book. Rakudai Kishi no Cavairy had to be my favorite this fall, even with its slow start and almost formulaic approach. I guess where fall dropped the ball in my opinion was Hacka doll the animation, i feel ashamed for actually watching it. And the Asterisk war, i felt that show had so much but kind of got boring for me.

Over all, I say 2015 was a great year, not the best, but pretty good.

Like any year of Anime, you have your good and bad. Seeing as I dedicated myself more into Anime this year than any other year means that 2015 was a good year.

This year I started posting forum thoughts on episodic Anime and because of it, I have been talking with many people here on CR. Basically, I am happy with 2015 and I am looking forward to 2016 since there is so much excitement that will happen.

It's been great talking with you all and lets keep it going for next year!

I'm kinda behind on my anime, so I haven't seen a whole lot of things that came out this year, but I really enjoyed Non Non Biyori Repeat and Hibike! Euphonium.

A lot of the stuff I still want to watch looks really cool. Like One Punch Man and Himouto! Umaru-chan.

So while the jury is still out, I think 2015 has been a pretty sweet year for anime!

There were tons of great originals like Is the Order Rabbit, Food Wars, Euphonium, I Can't Understand What my Husband is Saying, Shimoneta, Umaru-chan, Prison School, Shomin Sample, and of course One Punch Man.

Food shows made their long awaited appearance, moe got stronger than ever, animation quality went way up, and sports animes weren't just a fad and are here to stay.

I feel like a good ending was a rarity in 2015; IM: Cinderlla Girls, DanMachi, Nisekoi, GATE, all fell apart or ended in a rather weak way, and don't even get me started about Charlotte and Naruto. Hopefully the unfinished ones can pick up the story nicely if they got a sequel.

Then there's those shows that for whatever reason are taking forever to be finished; Kancolle, Hunter X Hunter , Attack on Titan.

Finally, we found out there's those shows that deserve a second season but might not see one; NGNL, DanMachi, and even One Punch Man.

I agree that 2015 was a mixture of the good and bad. I think the good generally outweighed the bad. But the bad was horrible. What surprised me was the surprise hits of the year. For me that was: School Live, Actually I am, Monster Musume, Gate, Shomin Sample, Castle Town Dandylion, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Anti-Magic Academy the 35th Test Platoon, The Asterisk War, Plastic Memories, Non Non Biyori Repeat among others. And the bad were very, very bad. I guess the thing that amazed me the most was how dark the Summer season was and how moving a lot of the shows I liked were.

Actually, Yusuke Murata mentioned that he is working hard to make season 2 possible for One Punch Man.

It was quality of quantity.

There may have been a smaller number of good shows, but what was good was great.

Gintama came back, Jojo was better, Madhouse delivered some of the best animation in history with One Punch Man as well as 24 episodes of fluff that still ended up entertaining (My LOVE story!!!) and of course there was also Death Parade. There was also Blood Blockade Battlefront which I actually liked better than Nightow's other magnum opus Trigun.

I really don't know what I would brand my ''surprise of the year'', I hesitate between Maria the Virgin Witch, Yurikuma Arashi and Mr.Osomatsu.

Then there's Prison School and Monster Musume; which I found myself enjoying more than I expected. Even Ecchi Trash was good this year!

Edit (because obviously there was going to be stuff I forgot) : Strong sequels ( Haikyuu! and Noragami Aragoto), Ushio and Tora was a fun takeback to the 90s with likable characters and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans I can't remember the last time I've enjoyed a Mecha series as much (it's my first Gundam too). And finally, Snow White with the Red Hair; a very refreshing and calming shoujo.

In short, cheers to 2015! With Spring 2016 having promising titles like My Hero Academy, Diamond is Unbreakable, Ace Attorney, the long awaited second season of Attack on Titan, let's hope the next anime year will be even better!

2015 Anime was pretty iffy. Didn't enjoy it as much although I did enjoy
School-Live , Plastic Memories, Prison School , Gate, One Punch Man & that anime musical where it takes place in an all boy school with musicals and dancing and cheer

I know, but I can't help but get the same feeling I got with NGNL where the ending seemed to skip quite a bit of important material. I haven't read the manga, but it definitely felt like a time skip at the very end there. Hopefully the Madhouse curse doesn't apply to this one.

Overall, I thought the year was very good. Really really good.

A lot of already favorites of mine such as Snafu 2, Non Non Biyori, Noragami, Yuru Yuri, Gintama and Monogatari series all returned this year. Well, not one of them disappointed me. In fact, they pretty much showcased why they are my favorites extremely well. Food Wars was the biggest surprise though. Oh lord, I had no clue what I was going into and man... It is an instant favorite and the manga became an instant favorite. I was watching this show at work the moment I could.

From what I can remember, all the genre's (except for Mecha since I dont watch that genre) were represented really well. Monster Musume had an hilarious harem and was pretty ecchi. [email protected] finally caught onto a sweet story after a really rocky start and finished really well for the Idol genre. Shirayuki was a very nice addition of Shoujo. Overlord was an epic touch for the fantasy genre. Rokka was nice too though it ultimately was Light Novel promotion/bait in the end. Utawarerumono has this epic slice of life / fantasy mix that is too good. I don't even care where the plot goes. Sound Euphonium brought some screenshots that I thought were the best scenes all year. Then, there are 3 Magic-School battle genre things going on this Season that are there to enjoy. Though 2 of them started legit the sameway almost.

So yea, I really enjoyed this year

Edit: What the one avi said. It has been a badass year
